This is a meditation that helps us to feel cooler after the effects of a hot flash and it's also good for cooling down those heated emotions like anger,

Irritation and frustration that so often arise during the menopause.

This meditation uses breath to cool you down and to calm your nervous system.

You can do this meditation in a seated posture either crossing your legs or by sitting on a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your arms resting lightly in your lap or on your knees.

Just for a moment inhale and exhale and come into contact with the breath.

In this meditation we're going to be using the breath by sucking in the air like you're sucking through a straw,

Pursing your lips and sucking in cool air and then we're going to exhale fully through the nose to expel the heat from our bodies.

In that way we're letting the breath cool and calm us.

So you can begin now to close your eyes,

Settle into your body and just for a little while notice how you feel.

And then when you're ready you can take your first breath around your mouth and inhale slowly and then when you're ready exhale through the nose.

Let's repeat that inhale and exhale.

You can breathe at your own pace and engage the intention of cooling and calming your overheated body and emotions.

Feel that this breath becomes fluid and that somehow through the breath you're smoothing out the round edges of the heated flash or the hot emotion.

Breathe in coolness to the parts of the body that feel hot and bothered.

Then exhale through the nose to release all that heat.

I'm just going to repeat that for a few breaths in your own pace.

And feel a cool calmness spreading through your body.

And then when you're ready you can gently come back to the sensations of your body,

Move a little bit,

Fingers,

Toes and when you're ready you can open your eyes come back into the room ready to go out into the rest of your day feeling cooler and calmer.
