Welcome to this Lectio Divina on Psalm 70.
I invite you to arrive into this space,
To gather yourself from the day and gently allow every part of you to be here.
You are welcome just as you find yourself.
Settle into your space,
Into your body and begin to welcome stillness and rest.
Allow your whole being to settle,
To release,
To be held and supported and notice your breath following a few inhales and exhales.
Psalm 70,
Read three times.
On this first reading allow the words to come without attaching to any in particular.
You take delight O radiant one,
In gracing me with new life.
O beloved come and renew me,
Let me face my weaknesses and all that confuses me,
That keeps me from joy.
I seek forgiveness for my wrongdoings,
I desire only you.
Let me begin anew as a child at its mother's breast,
Who basks in love.
May all who seek you rejoice and be glad.
May all who surrender to you cry out,
My joy is in the beloved.
Yes,
When I am lowly and fear-filled,
You hasten to me beloved.
You are my strength and my joy,
Love come and renew me again.
On this second reading notice any words or phrases that capture your attention.
You take delight O radiant one,
In gracing me with new life.
O beloved come and renew me,
Let me face my weaknesses and all that confuses me,
That keeps me from joy.
I seek forgiveness for my wrongdoings,
I desire only you.
Let me begin anew as a child at its mother's breast,
Who basks in love.
May all who seek you rejoice and be glad.
May all who surrender to you cry out,
My joy is in the beloved.
Yes,
When I am lowly and fear-filled,
You hasten to me beloved.
You are my strength and my joy,
Love come and renew me again.
This third and final reading allows a deeper connection with the words or phrases that resonated with you.
An opportunity to be curious about what they offer or invite,
How they make you feel,
What response they cause within you.
Welcome them to bring their gift and allow them to settle in your heart.
And you may also want to return to them once this Lectio is over,
To allow them to minister where they're needed within you.
