A gentle meditation on Psalm 105 from Nan Merrill's Psalms for Praying. Before beginning, there is time to settle and come to stillness, then, the Psalm is read through fully once and a few verses twice more. There is an opportunity to welcome the words or phrases that stand out to you to be received deeply and offer their gift. This version of the Psalms is not a direct translation but is kind, gentle, and intimate.

Hello friends and welcome to the first part of Psalm 105.

So this psalm is broken down into three parts.

It's a long psalm but it's also very rich and seems to be very relevant for the times that we find ourselves in.

So as you arrive I invite you to come to a comfortable position with your lying down,

Sitting.

Gather yourself into this very moment.

Let your breath breathe for you and bring you into your body.

Is it possible in this moment to soften,

To welcome gentleness and tenderness?

Is it possible to open to love and goodness,

To let yourself be seen and met in this moment?

Open your heart,

Whatever that means,

To you.

Open to receive what wants to be given to you in these words.

I'm going to read the whole part of part one and then I'm going to focus in on a few verses twice more.

Psalm 105.

Oh give thanks to the beloved and open your hearts to love.

Awaken,

Listen in silence for the voice of the counsellor.

Sing praises with a glad heart and give witness to the truth with your lives.

Glory in the radiance of the beloved.

Let the hearts of those who call upon you rejoice.

Seek the one who is life,

Your strength.

Walk harmoniously in love's presence.

Remember that you are not alone for through love doubt and fear are released.

Oh people of the earth,

Ever bear in mind the unity of diversity in the divine plan.

You are the promise of our wholeness.

You await our readiness to choose life.

Your covenant of love stands firm through all the ages.

You forgive us when we stray far from home.

Help us to learn to trust you,

To untangle the webs of illusion that we have made.

As we sift through our dreams,

Guide us to the only dream that brings peace,

Knowing we belong to you.

Give us wisdom and courage to release all that binds us.

For to let go of what is built on illusions is to find new life.

So returning to a few verses,

Notice what words or phrases are capturing your attention.

And as we return to those verses one last time,

Let those words or phrases that have drawn your attention unfold within you.

Notice what it is that they're offering or inviting.

Is there a response that you want to bring?

How is your body responding to them?

How are your emotions responding?

Let those words or phrases bring the fullness of their gift.

Do return to the beginning and re-listen if you want to.

And may the words and phrases that captured you continue to bring their gift over the coming days.

Be blessed my friends.

Thank you for being here.

Amen.

I’m so grateful for the reminder in these words that peace and love are always possible when we turn to the Divine and let go of our stories and illusions. I especially love meditating in the phrase “unity in diversity” - what a refreshing idea for these times. Thank you for this beautiful reading, Nicky!

Letting go of illusions so that we can be blessed with new life. As my husband and I celebrate 50 years of marriage, we are taking more time to reflect, let go of illusions, and seeing the blessings of our lives throughout the years. Thank you, Nicky, for continuing the journey!

A powerful response to our current state. Untangling from illusions ( for me, of despair) helps to bring new life as we seek God’s path of Love. Many thanks Nicky and Many Blessings 💜🕊️
