PETER Welcome to your meditation.
Find a comfortable position to either sit or lay in.
Once you've found the position that will facilitate deep relaxation within your body,
Take a deep breath and gently close your eyes.
Exhale through your nose and exhale through your nose.
With each breath,
Unwind more and more to the center of yourself.
With your mind's eye,
Envision yourself standing before a great and majestic tree.
Notice the rich color and texture of the tree.
As you inhale and then exhale,
Imagine the scent of the tree.
Is it a pine,
Eucalyptus,
Or oak tree?
It can be any type of tree you'd like.
Take in its pure aroma.
Look down and notice its roots.
Imagine its root system spreading far and wide beneath you.
Gently gaze upwards and become aware of the body and branches of the tree.
Notice the uniqueness of each branch.
Now become aware of the leaves.
Notice how the light of the sun or bright moon shines through the leaves.
Can you feel the breeze blowing all around you?
Notice the movement of the leaves and branches on the tree.
See how these branches and leaves are being carried by the gentle yet mighty winds all around you.
A mighty wind can blow on a tree and make its way,
But the tree is strong and flexible enough to withstand the forces of nature.
It is resilient.
Now imagine yourself embodying the same qualities of the tree that stands before you.
In the soles of your feet,
You are rooted and connected to the earth.
Your body is strong and flexible and able to move gracefully.
That same grace guides your emotional life.
The external winds may blow,
But you stand in the truth of who you are.
Imagine growing tall like the tree and stretching towards the sun,
Always growing and expanding.
You breathe,
You grow.
You breathe,
You expand.
You breathe,
You change into more of who you truly are.
Trust your truth.
Take a deep breath in and out and become aware of your surroundings in this moment.
Notice the sounds,
Smells,
Tastes,
Sensations within you and around you.
Gently wiggle your toes and fingers.
Gently move and stretch your body in any way that your body intuitively wants to move.
Take a deep breath in and out.
Gently open your eyes.
