This practice is called Nature Heals.
Begin by sitting or lying down in a comfortable position outside in the elements.
Make sure you're warm enough,
Especially if you're doing this practice in a colder climate.
For a moment,
Look around you in every direction.
Take a few breaths and look up towards the sky.
Keep breathing as you look to your right.
And then to your left.
Now look down at the ground as you continue to mindfully take in your surroundings.
Bringing your gaze back to center.
And begin to take several conscious,
Slow,
Deep breaths.
Close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Feel yourself taking in the energy of nature each time you inhale.
And settle with that energy.
Each time you exhale.
Taking in the energy of nature as you inhale and settling with that energy as you exhale.
Now notice the parts of your body that are in direct contact with the earth.
If sitting in a chair,
It may be your feet.
Wherever there is a connection.
Begin to breathe yourself deeper into that connection,
As if to sink into the feeling of the earth beneath you.
Sinking in to the pull of gravity.
Now begin to notice any sounds of nature.
Maybe there are birds chirping.
Or the sound of wind rustling.
Let your attention be with the sounds.
Or the silence between the sounds.
Next,
Allow yourself to become aware of any smells in the air.
Breathe deeply and take in the sense around you.
Now notice the feeling of the wind or the sun against your skin.
Notice all of these sensations.
Begin to send a wave of gratitude over the body from top to toe.
Gratitude for this precious connection of your body to nature.
Gratitude for this precious life.
Allow yourself to rest in this gratitude.
For just a few more moments.
When you feel ready,
Gently raise your gaze.
Take the time to transition from this practice slowly.
Be well.
