Social anxiety can leave you feeling vulnerable and isolated.
It doesn't have to be that way.
I'm here to guide you through tools and techniques to help you feel calm and confident for your next event.
Get comfortable.
Either lay down or sit.
And take a deep breath in.
Either soften your gaze or close your eyes and repeat these lines after me.
I am on my unique path and my worth is not defined by comparisons.
My worth is not determined by my job,
My salary or what I look like.
I am worthy.
I am enough.
Exactly as I am.
I thrive in social situations.
Now I want you to imagine an upcoming event as best as you can.
It could be what it looks like,
What you can hear,
The smells,
What decorations might be there,
What genre of music will be playing,
What food and drink might they serve.
Another time,
Create and prepare pivot statements in case someone asks you a tricky question that you're not comfortable answering.
A way to divert the conversation in a positive direction that doesn't leave you feeling defensive and feels calm and confident.
Take a deep breath in.
Before you're on your way to your next social situation or gathering,
Stand tall in the mirror,
In front of the mirror,
Smile,
Take up space.
It's priming yourself beforehand that you're important and you matter,
And it helps you feel good.
Create a ritual before going out,
Something you enjoy,
Whether it's styling your hair,
Doing your makeup,
Wearing your favourite outfit,
To help you feel the most confident.
Remember,
People are usually focused on themselves more than anyone else.
And when you're on your way,
Appreciate the effort and courage you have for going,
Regardless how you're feeling or thinking in the moment.
Thank you for listening to my meditation.
