This is a quick and simple guided meditation to help calm an anxious mind.
Before we begin,
Please take a moment to find a comfortable position.
Sitting,
Standing,
Lying down,
Whatever your body is calling for you to do today.
Oftentimes they say that the more we look for peace,
The harder it is to find.
So today I'm giving you permission to not seek.
Today I'm giving you permission to just be.
You don't have to try and rid of any of the current thoughts swimming in your mind.
Just let them be.
I want you to imagine yourself standing by a vast ocean.
You can feel a nice breeze blowing through the air.
You even notice the light misting of water as it caresses your skin.
You notice for a moment the sound of the crashing ocean waves around you.
Imagine these waves as your thoughts,
Your anxieties,
Your fears.
Your loud,
Powerful,
Daunting,
Scary even.
But I want you to picture yourself slowly walking towards the sea.
Watch as the water rises from your ankles to your knees.
As you continue to wander further out,
The water gets deeper and deeper.
The waves of your anxious thoughts continue to roar around you.
I want you to surrender to them.
These waves are not the ocean.
These thoughts are not you.
You are the ocean.
And the ocean welcomes the waves.
Now slowly allow your body to sink below the surface.
Deep down into the ocean.
The sea is floating.
You watch and observe the swell from above.
Down here it's quiet.
Down here the waves don't seem as scary.
Down here the waves are dancing.
What do you notice?
How do you feel beneath the waves?
Whenever you feel the mounting waves of anxiety,
Always remember that you can come here and just observe.
You don't need to react.
You just need to watch,
Float,
Dance.
You're okay.
You're okay.
