Welcome.
I wrote the following poem when I was just 15 years old and rediscovered it many,
Many years later,
Probably when I needed it most.
This is The Messenger Dove by Carrie Weaver.
So many times I've pushed away the thoughts that have led me astray.
Looking at my life,
I find the desires to lead new adventures and start new fires.
But my search begins,
I know not where,
And I feel inside like I shouldn't care.
But then,
Like a vision sent straight from above,
On the silky white feathers is The Messenger Dove.
She brings words of peace and fills me with hope.
She teaches me to live,
To love,
And to cope.
But no longer a child,
She has to bid farewell,
And leaves in my hand a small silver bell.
The instructions were clear and written in gold.
As I read them,
I wept and began to grow cold.
Silence shatters and darkness bleeds.
Remember yourself to obtain neither of these.
Fill your soul with the light to remove all your pain.
Speak your mind and your heart like the downpouring rain.
When in need of a friend,
I will always be here.
Simply jingle your bell and I will appear.
Be strong and be true throughout life on Earth.
You've been chosen to leave since the time of your birth.
Teach my message of peace to the ones that you love.
Those were the words of The Messenger Dove.
I lived through my life with nothing to fear because I knew my dear friend would always be near.
Her message was spread through her confidence in me,
Yet I longed for the friend she had turned out to be.
I knew my own journey would not be complete until the dove and I would once again meet.
So I spread out my arms and I looked to the side.
I touched them and laughed.
And then I cried.
Not a moment to spare,
I took to the sky,
Not knowing I'd always had the power to fly.
As I flew higher,
I changed both inside and out.
Anticipating the change,
I corrected my route.
Flesh to feather and peace conjured from hate,
I landed beside a pearly white gate.
As I looked around,
I heard a voice say from above,
Enter if you want unconditional love.
I walked through the gates with a feeling of bliss,
Knowing the place I left behind I would never again miss.
A feeling entered my soul,
One of such love.
So I turned and there before me was The Messenger Dove.
Thank you for listening.
Be well,
Beautiful soul.
