Start by closing your eyes,
If it is safe and comfortable for you to do so.
If not,
Then find a blankish spot on the wall or ceiling and let your eyes rest there.
Now make yourself as comfortable as possible.
Let the chair,
The bed or the floor support your weight.
Or,
If you're standing up,
Then plant your feet firmly and let the ground support you.
Just know that for the next 5 or 10 minutes you are safe and my voice will hold this space of care just for you.
Take a deep breath in and then exhale.
Enjoying the coolness of the air as you breathe it into your lungs and the warmth of the air as it leaves your body.
And let your breathing find its own natural rhythm so you can move on to more interesting things.
More interesting things like the warm white light that is suddenly bathing your whole body like a spotlight.
From the top of your head,
Across your neck and shoulders,
Right down to your legs and feet.
And you understand that this warm white light is bathing you in love and care.
And you choose now to step forward into the spotlight because this is your time.
Now I want you to imagine you have VIP front row tickets to see your favourite band or artist.
Spend a moment just taking in the surroundings with all of your senses.
Maybe you're at a festival and the sun is shining on your back.
Maybe you're in a big arena and there are lasers and smoke machines.
Maybe you're sitting in a plush red velvet seat in a grand concert hall or at a table in a cool and intimate venue.
Or maybe you're in a down and dirty nightclub where your feet stick to the floor and you are so happy to be here.
But wherever you are,
You are safe and comfortable and you have the best view in the house.
You have room around you to move freely and easily and you are feeling good.
In fact,
You're feeling real excitement and anticipation.
You've been looking forward to this show for months and that same feeling is met and then amplified by the rest of the crowd.
A hundred,
Thousand times over in waves until it becomes like lightning tingling across your skin.
And just when you're starting to think you can't stand the anticipation any longer,
The music begins to play.
And you can feel it through your whole body,
From your feet right up to your stomach,
In your heart and in your throat and in your head.
And you know that whoever you are in your everyday life,
Here in this place,
You can be whoever you want to be.
Anything is possible.
And what you are right now is a node of joy in a network of happiness.
And you let that feeling channel through you,
Filling you up.
The first song ends and the crowd cheer and scream with one voice,
As if you were one consciousness.
All your everyday concerns and worries have been forgotten,
Left behind the moment the first note was played.
And the singer announces the next song.
Your favorite song is for someone very special.
In fact,
It's dedicated to the person here that needs to hear it the most right now.
And you instinctively know that they mean you.
That this song is just for you.
And as you start to move to the music,
You realize that you are shaking off any feelings of fear about being seen and judged.
Feelings of shame about being too much or not enough.
Any feelings of guilt about being not enough one thing or the other.
All those negative emotions are flying off you now as you dance.
They simply cannot be contained in your body anymore,
Because there is no room for anything but the music.
And your confidence grows and grows.
And your dancing becomes more and more free as your spirit rises with the music.
And you understand now that it doesn't matter if you dance like Beyonce or a baby giraffe.
You deserve your own podium.
Today and every day,
You are dancing only for yourself and for your own happiness.
And you,

Are everything.
And just when it feels like your heart is about to burst out of your chest,
The song reaches its crescendo and then fades away.
Leaving you breathless,
Exhausted but exhilarated.
And you leave all of those negative emotions right here on the floor where you dropped them.
