Welcome to the Shifting with Marley podcast.
I'm Marley.
Thank you for joining me wherever you are.
All that I ask of you,
The listener,
Is to have an open mind and an open heart.
And in return,
I offer you myself.
I realized recently that there was a common theme running through every one of my podcast episodes so far,
The theme of change.
And really,
When I say shifting with Marley,
As in the title of this podcast,
It dawned on me that shifting is change,
Whether it's shifting perspectives,
Shifting energy,
Shifting paradigms,
Or shifting world.
So I decided we needed to talk today about change on its own.
Change deserved its own podcast episode.
Because as we transition toward the new earth,
Things both internally and externally in our world are going to change more and more rapidly.
The change is already underway,
But it's going to accelerate as time progresses.
So let's talk today about change and specifically embracing change.
My friends,
We can transition to the new earth roughly,
Densely kicking and screaming and dragging our feet and filled with fear and resistance.
Or we can transition smoothly with grace and joy.
The choice is truly up to us.
And the key I've come to realize is surrendering and embracing change.
It's funny,
This topic feels like a full circle moment for me.
Because believe it or not,
I've been extremely resistant to change almost my entire life.
For most of my life,
When confronted with any kind of change,
Even down to physical change in my home environment and objects,
I would have both a physical and emotional reaction,
Like full body adrenaline rush negative reaction.
And I would immediately react from that place and move straight into resistance to whatever the change was,
To the point that it would cause fights with my family and friends.
And I would try to subtly manipulate and maneuver the situation to prevent the change from happening to the point that my family would write off my opinions as,
Oh,
Don't listen to Marley,
She just doesn't like change.
It was a vicious cycle in my life,
All rooted really in control.
I would try to control and manipulate everything and everyone to prevent anything in my life from changing.
It was obviously unsustainable.
And thankfully,
I've relaxed a bit.
But trust me,
I'm not coming to you today as any type of expert in embracing change.
I'm starting this conversation today,
Because I need to learn this lesson too.
And maybe others out there resonate with this.
And I'm starting this conversation today because I recognize the importance of embracing change in moving humanity forward towards our potential.
Of course,
Humans in general on a broad level,
Don't love change.
Humans tend to fear the unknown.
We like going about our days with our habits and our schedules and our plans.
And we generally don't like when those things get disrupted.
But life on this earth in this human 3d experience is change.
Change is a constant whether we like it or not.
So if change and disruption are inevitable,
Why not shift our relationship to them to a more positive,
Fluid and accepting position.
Doing this could invite a lot more grace and flow into our lives.
And does not sound nice and peaceful.
The choice is ours.
I choose to embrace change,
To embrace the new,
To embrace endless possibilities.
I choose to surrender.
Choosing this path of embracing change is an active conscious practice.
It will take awareness,
Work and effort.
And that's partly because of the ego in our minds and conditioning.
These things are rigid,
They like habit,
And like things to say the same.
And our ego doesn't like not knowing.
The ego likes structure and control.
But our souls and our hearts and our higher selves are fluid and open and receptive and capable of surrendering to change and the present moment.
A big part of the practice of embracing change is learning to live in the present and learning to disengage from the ego and drop into the heart.
Another big part of the practice is embodying non attachment,
Non attachment to things,
To objects,
To outcomes.
For example,
One of the reasons I had such an emotional reaction to physical changes in my home was my attachment to these things in my home and these things outside of myself.
An aspect of non attachment is also releasing expectations.
So much disappointment we experience so much of the resistance to change is rooted in the expectations we set up in our lives and in our relationships.
And an aspect of expectation is control and trying to control outcomes.
It's all connected.
Everything is connected.
And I've touched on all of these topics,
These concepts in different ways throughout my previous 13 podcast episodes.
So this episode today feels to me like a culmination of everything I've been trying to say with this podcast.
For example,
I talked in episode one about how we need to shift our perspective and focus on internal change in order to change the world.
I've talked about fear.
I've talked about,
I've talked extensively about the ego and these play a part in our resistance to change.
I've talked about raising your frequency,
Raising your consciousness and taking a higher level perspective,
Necessary components and embracing change.
A huge focus on this podcast has been self love.
And in order to embrace change,
We need to love ourselves no matter what's on the other side of change,
Love ourselves,
No matter the outcome of a choice we make,
Embracing change and non attachment are intimately linked in our components of living lighter.
We need to embrace change to find and embody our purpose,
Trusting yourself,
Listening to your intuition,
Listening to your heart are necessary components to embracing change.
And finally,
As I've said,
Embracing change is a necessary component as we create the new earth.
So let's talk about how we can practice embracing change until it's second nature.
I'd like to share some tips and tools that may make this process a little easier.
First and foremost,
Good old affirmations to the rescue,
Some really powerful affirmations to repeat out loud to yourself as often as you remember several times a day.
I embrace change.
I am open to change.
I am open to new beginnings.
I surrender to the universe.
I surrender to the present moment.
I am supported.
I adapt willingly and easily.
Change is exciting and I welcome it into my life.
These are just examples.
Pick any affirmation that feels good to you and that empowers you.
Another way to practice embracing change is learning to get comfortable with the uncomfortable because change can be uncomfortable.
Start small.
Start with building some new habits.
Start with making new choices in your day to day life.
I challenge you to make one new choice each day.
Even something seemingly insignificant like trying a new food or taking a new route home or listening to new music.
We have to build up our capacity to embrace the new and embrace change like a muscle.
As Denise Jarvey puts it,
Lasting change comes easily once daily deliberate actions build up positive momentum.
So start building that momentum as we change the world changes.
So another part of changing our relationship to change is awareness.
Notice what comes up for you the next time you're confronted with change.
What reaction do you feel?
Where does that reaction show up in your body?
What emotions are coming up?
I invite you to pause in the face of change.
Pause and notice.
Take a few deep breaths and try to drop into your heart and drop behind your ego.
React to change from your heart center instead of your mind.
Pausing is powerful.
Another muscle we need to develop is that of allowing,
Surrendering and trusting.
These are key components in embracing change.
The new is calling to us,
Beckoning us forward and we need to start trusting that the new will catch us.
We need to start trusting ourselves and trusting the choices we make and we need to open ourselves up to the wisdom and guidance of our intuition in our hearts.
This is of the utmost importance if we want to transition more smoothly to the new earth and trust and surrendering go hand in hand.
What does surrendering mean really?
Partly it means trusting that you and everyone in your life are being divinely guided and supported.
All of us are being divinely guided and supported always.
I promise you.
And it's so much easier to go with the flow when we trust we are being guided and supported.
Surrendering also means surrendering to your soul and your soul's perspective.
Remember,
We are souls having a human experience.
Our souls are eternal.
And from that higher level perspective of our soul,
Change is just part of the game and part of the lessons we came here to earth to learn.
Change is a gateway to those soul lessons.
From that perspective,
We can greet change like an old friend and get really curious and playful with change.
After all,
Change brings endless possibilities.
And the other side of change is a new world.
Taking a more hopeful and positive and optimistic perspective to change is a choice.
We are all navigating this rapidly changing world together.
We are building a new world together.
As Janine Marie Hogan puts it from one of my favorite books,
All We Can Save,
In our time of disturbance and radical change,
We are crossing a threshold,
A portal,
Or an unseen bridge from one world to another.
It could be said that the bridge is either collapsing beneath us or being made as we walk together in the long twilight hours when one civilization gives way to another.
