This guided visualization is for adult clients only.
Please do not listen to this visualization whilst driving,
Operating machinery,
Or taking part in any kind of activity that requires your full attention.
If any emergency should occur whilst you are listening to this visualization,
You shall become fully aware of the situation and you shall be able to deal with it calmly and efficiently.
You may be seated or choose to lie down on a bed,
Couch,
Or floor,
Just so long as you are comfortable.
You may choose to keep your eyes open,
But it may better aid you in the visualization if you close your eyes.
You may close your eyes now.
For the next few moments I want you to just check your body for any signs of tension.
Beginning with your head,
Then neck and shoulders.
If you find tension there,
Just relax and let it go.
You down your body now,
Looking for any tension in your chest,
Stomach,
And arms and hands.
If you find tension there,
Just relax and let that tension go from you.
Gently checking your hips,
Legs,
And feet now.
If you find tension,
Just relax and let it slip away from you.
Take this time to relax and make yourself comfortable.
You will be going on a journey,
But before we start I would like you to relax and concentrate your attention now upon your breathing.
Just breathing naturally in and out.
Noticing the sensation of cool air going in through your nostrils as you breathe in and the sensation of warm air going out through your nostrils as you breathe out.
Not forcing the breathing,
But just noticing the breath in and the breath out.
Picture,
In your mind's eye,
That you step out from having just been standing in the front doorway of a large old thatched cottage.
You have to stoop down a little to mind your head as you step out from the doorway and onto a pathway that leads through a cottage garden.
It is a bright summer's day and the sunshine's heat and glare is tempered by you wearing easy and light casual clothing and an appropriate hat to protect your head.
You stand for a while,
Taking in the scene in front of you.
The garden of the cottage is lovely.
It seems not to have been planned at all,
But rather let to grow in a natural way.
Yet you know that someone has been caring for it because there are no weeds to be seen.
And off to your right there is a vegetable patch sporting a row of runner beans held up by tall bamboo canes and neat lined rows that you can clearly see where carrots and onions have been planted.
Sweet peas can also be seen in full flower sporting their wonderful colours of purple and white.
You look at the garden in front of you now,
Just as your senses pick up the sweet scented smell from the honeysuckle that grows all the way up the front of the cottage and at some point was trained to go around its two wood framed windows.
The garden is resplendent in its summer colours.
Roses that have opened fully to display their golden and yellow colours and over there holding up and smothering an old and rickety wooden trellis is a climbing rose bush sporting flowers of the deepest blood red.
There are other vibrant colours here too.
The deep purple of lavender bushes in front of a backdrop of bright red hot pokers that are climbing their way skyward.
And over there are golden marigolds vying for pride of place against an array of other wonderful flowers that are here.
Of spray chrysanthemums,
Begonias,
Petunias and an array of pansies.
You smile as you see the many coloured threads within the coat that summer weighs.
Occasionally you hear the hum of insects and can see them.
The humble bumblebee industrially going from flower to flower fulfilling his duty of collecting nourishment for the hive.
And unbeknown to him he is also giving service by helping nature to replenish itself time and time again.
And birds can be heard singing cheerfully on this warm summer's day.
It would be tempting just to stay here but you are eager to explore more.
You walk around to the rear of the cottage having to pass the vegetable patch where you brush up lightly against the sweet peas that virgin over the edge of the path.
You take in the sweet perfumed smell of them until you pass by to find yourself looking now at a long and neatly cut garden lawn backing on to the cottage.
It is surrounded by an old Victorian brick wall that provides privacy.
On either side of the lawn are growing mature apple trees which are bearing their fruit.
And if you want to you may pick one of the apples and notice the texture of it in your hand.
You can bite into it if you wish as you take in the surroundings around you.
At the bottom of the lawn is growing a large oak tree.
Its trunk is very thick and its bark is rough and craggy.
The many oak leaf laden branches are handsome and proud as they reach outwards and upwards.
You can see that this grand oak tree is ancient and stands strong and unyielding as if giving testimony to the power of nature.
Attached to one of the outward trunks is a sturdy looking swing and close by is a wicker chair plied with plump and comfortable cushions.
Next to it is an old ornate hostess trolley upon which there is a large glance and a jug of cooling and refreshing drink.
You walk down the long lawn and you may choose to rest upon the comfortable seat or sit upon the swing.
Here you are out of the direct sunlight but occasionally as a gentle breeze moves the leafy branches,
Beams of sunlight filter down to make moving dappled patterns on the grass.
Sitting comfortably now you can appreciate the warmth and calmness of this place.
Here you can let the cares and worries that you may have just trickle away as you relax and let yourself daydream.
Occasionally catching the lovely smell of summer flowers as their perfumed scent wafts gently toward you on the cooling breeze.
Finding that any vestige of tension you are holding onto can now easily be released and let go of.
Just listening now to the music drifting upon the air in this safe and relaxing cottage garden.
This is your time of carefree relaxation.
Your time to unwind from life's tribulations and uncertainties.
A place and time for you to relax and heal your body and your mind.
