This meditation guides you through a technique you can use to reduce emotional or physical pain. You will be guided through a process to identify and describe the discomfort, which can begin to reduce it, and then visualize a healing light to reduce it further. We often want to ignore or distract ourselves from a bad feeling in the hopes that it will go away, but it actually needs to be seen and comforted. Transcript

Welcome to this healing light meditation.

Please find a place to sit or lay down where you feel supported,

Comfortable,

And safe.

If you'd like,

You can close your eyes.

We'd like you to start to bring your attention inside.

Notice your breathing.

See if you can slow it down and deepen your breath.

Now please bring to mind the emotion or the pain that's bothering you.

If it's an emotion,

Please scan your body and find out where you are feeling that emotion in your body.

If it's a physical pain,

That should be obvious where it is.

And I'd like you to just take a few seconds to observe the physical sensations of this discomfort.

Just notice like it's something that you are studying.

Where does it start?

Where does it end?

Is it different intensity in different places?

And I'd like you to imagine this discomfort had a shape.

If it was an object that you could observe,

Which shape would it have?

And once you notice the shape,

I'd like you to notice what color it might be.

And as you're observing the color,

Determine what texture.

Be soft or firm.

And what temperature would this object be?

Maybe very hot,

Cold,

Maybe just room temperature.

Notice the temperature of this object.

What would the size be?

This object,

If it had a sound,

What kind of sound would it make?

Would it be high pitched?

Low?

Would it sound like a human or an animal?

Just take a moment to observe this object.

Now I'd like you to think of the color of light that you feel to be a healing color of light.

And I'd like you to imagine a light of this color shining down on you.

And I'd like you to direct that light at that object.

See that healing color light shining on the object that you described.

Imagine as that light shines down on it,

Begins to vibrate,

And it begins to change.

Observe and notice how the object changes as this light shines down on it.

This process will be unique to you.

Maybe it will shrink.

Maybe it will dissipate.

Maybe it will move.

The object will change.

Observe this process.

Continue to breathe as the object changes.

Continue to visualize the healing light shining down on the object for as long as you need to.

You can pause the meditation and keep going if you need more time.

When it feels complete,

Visualize that healing light absorbing into the rest of your body,

Filling you with love and energy from the universe.

Breathe deep and feel it absorbing into your body.

When you're ready,

Open your eyes,

Start to notice the things in the room,

And come back to the here and the now.
