Soo May was the last recording in Singapore before I headed to the airport. Soomay's first sound bath experience left her in tears from beginning to end, and she began learning about it when the time was right for her. Her first gong teacher was Jacqui whom I recorded on my first visit. As soon as Soo May strikes a bowl or gong, her world slows down, way down, and takes us with her. Her improvised movements are precise and intentional. The deep connections with her instruments can be felt in the meaningful compositions. The final track of my stay in Singapore and it was amazing. It was the first time I had recorded a water flute, and she paired it with a rain drum, which sounds like a more subtle ocean drum. The water theme was a perfect match. Then she moved onto her 'Black Sun' gong made by Shawn Acato @ and it was amazing. So lush, so deep. Its energy swallows every sound in its path. A true Black Hole Sun.
