Hitomi is another sound bath practitioner in Kagoshima and was invited by Lumi Higashi whom I had been in contact. They both shared the same enthusiasm for the project and were excited to make a recording together. The location was a 100-year-old villa all made of wood, tatami, and shoji screens overlooking a small garden with the smoking Kagoshima volcano in the distance. The morning weather was warm with cool breezes occasionally flowing through the house. Perfect location for a sound bath. We set up in a large room with tatami. Hitomi brought her large white bowls to one end of the room, and Lumi set up on the other. This track is a very relaxing, slow-tempo track. Slow transitions between bowls let you get lost in the sea of each one. I love how she plays several instruments at once, tuning fork and bowl, chime and tuning fork, shaker and chime, without adding complexity. The track finishes with a passing airplane. The perfect soundtrack to a beautiful day.
