Sound Bath Sessions 169: Donna Chan
After several months of working at a desk editing and uploading SBS to Insight Timer, I was glad to be recording again. Tata invited me to record her and her friend Donna in the Peak area. The weather was warm, and the view of the south side of HK was beautiful. Donna has been a practitioner for several years and travels to China to give sessions, too. The first track was recorded outside next to a pool with a water feature providing a dynamic backdrop for Donna’s solo drum session. Donna’s drum has a harmonic that sounds like a voice, not unlike how a monochord sings. Her constant tempo and rhythm are kept for over 10 minutes until she slows down and changes to a slow, heartbeat rhythm. I hear several harmonics humming between the drum strikes in a wonderful ensemble of sounds. She finishes with a shaker and chimes as it fades into the sounds of the waterfall.
