Sound Bath Sessions 126: Kathy Kwan
As time was tight that afternoon, I could only record two beautiful and memorable sessions. We recorded in the large hall space with very high ceilings. The windows were open, letting the sound of the water and breeze flow through. Kathy played her extensive metal bowl collection of over 20 bowls in different scales. Though numerous in number, I didn’t feel overwhelmed with sound during the session. Kathy’s style is slow and intentional, each movement- even every breath- was mindfully made throughout the performance. The government of her actions extended through her performance, creating a direct connection to her mind for me- mind:hand:bowl:sound:ear: mind. The entire experience felt very ‘nostalgic’ for me- the sounds, the smell, the temperature against my skin. I had been here before.
