Welcome to the practice of Yoga Nidra.
My name is Serendipity Johnson and I am grateful to be your guide today.
Today we are going to take a grand adventure into the vastness of space during this Yoga Nidra session.
So feel free to get very comfortable.
You can lie down on your back or in any position that feels very comfortable to you.
Just make sure that you can close your eyes if you feel comfortable.
You can make some small adjustments,
Getting even more comfortable in your space.
The ideal position for Yoga Nidra is to lie down in Shavasana.
That's to lay on your back with your feet slightly outward and your hands away from your body,
Palms facing upward.
But you can lay down in any position that works the best for you.
Just make any last movements and settle into a space that's comfortable.
You can use an eye mask.
You can cover yourself with a gentle blanket or use pillows under your knees.
Anything that helps you become even more quiet,
As still and quiet as possible.
Again,
If it feels comfortable to you,
Please close your eyes and take three long deep breaths.
And each time as you breathe out,
Feel yourself letting go.
Ideally,
You'll stay in the same position throughout the entire Yoga Nidra.
But if your body needs to move and adjust to be present,
I suggest that you do that.
There's no wrong way to do this.
Just do your best and please be as comfortable as you possibly can.
Take a couple more deep relaxing breaths,
Please.
Now I'd like to invite you to tighten up and squeeze your body as you inhale.
So on an inhale,
You'll get tight,
Tight,
Tight.
And then as you exhale,
You'll release and relax your muscles.
Go ahead and tighten your feet and legs.
Tight,
Tight,
Tight on an inhale.
Diamond tight.
And then release and relax.
Now tighten your belly,
Bottom,
Back.
Tighten up.
And exhale,
Release.
Inhale while squeezing and tightening the muscles and then release them when you exhale.
Now inhale,
Squeeze your shoulders,
Arms and hands.
Exhale,
Release.
Inhale,
Tighten your neck,
Head and face.
Tight.
Exhale,
Relax.
Inhale,
Tighten your whole body.
Exhale,
Relax.
Inhale,
Tighten the whole body again.
Exhale,
Release.
One more time,
Whole body diamond hard on an inhale.
Exhale,
Release and relax.
Relax your whole body.
Release and relax.
Now I'd like to invite you to set a positive goal,
Thought or intention for yourself today or a sankalpa.
Ideally,
This will be a short statement worded positively that you'll speak silently to yourself.
Like I trust myself or I am a good listener or I honor my intuition.
The sankalpa I've been working with is I invite my highest self to manifest.
So go ahead and repeat this intention to yourself silently three times now.
Wonderful.
I'd also like to invite you to set an intention to stay awake and alert during our session.
Now if you need to fall asleep,
That's okay.
That means that you're needing some extra rest.
But if possible,
Please stay awake and alert.
You're very relaxed.
Your eyes are closed if that feels good to you.
Just feel the intention fill your entire body.
Now as I name different parts of the body,
I'd like to invite you to feel or imagine energy tingling that area.
Become aware of the body parts but don't move them.
Just imagine the energy bringing light to each part as I name it.
The energy can be any color,
Any size or shape that you'd like today.
Please make sure to stay awake if possible.
Pay attention to your body and my voice.
We'll start by feeling or imagining energy on the right side.
Right hand thumb,
Second finger,
Third finger,
Fourth finger,
Little finger,
Whole right hand,
Whole right arm,
Shoulder,
Right side of the chest,
Waist,
Hip,
Whole right leg,

The toes,

Now imagine the light moving to the left side.

Feel the vibrant energy in your two feet together,

Nose,
Right cheek,
Left cheek,
Mouth,
Lips,
Tongue,

The whole face,

Please notice your breathing without trying to change it in any way.
Just notice the connection between the breath and the body.
Witness,
Notice who is breathing that breath.
Just notice how it works on its own.
Notice how it flows up and down,
Up and down,
In and out,
In and out,
Up and down,
In and out.
Imagine inhaling cosmic energy into the throat.
As you exhale,
Release any negativity from the body.
Inhale into the throat center.
Exhale out any stress or tension like a black cloud.
Inhale,
Light.
Exhale out any tension or stress.
Now keep paying attention to your breath.
And at the same time,
Start counting backwards from 27 to zero.

Inhale into the throat.

Exhale,
Release.

Inhale into the throat.

Release.

Inhale,
Fill up the throat with energy.
Exhale,
Release.
Keep counting backward to yourself silently to zero.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Pay attention to breathing and counting.
If you lose track of your counting,
Just start again at 27.
Wonderful,
Release the counting.
Now imagine yourself walking along a beautiful beach,
Enjoying the perfect weather and the sounds of the soft,
Rippling waves hitting the shore.
You see a hammock connected to two gorgeous palm trees.
It's welcoming you to come and take a rest.
What a great opportunity for a retreat.
Be grateful for the time to yourself,
Listening to your inner voice and your intuition.
You gently lay upon the hammock and immediately enjoy the soft rocking from side to side.
The sound from the ocean woos you into a deep calm.
As you gaze softly through the green palm leaves,
You feel so refreshed and invigorated by the perfect blue of the cloudless sky.
You wonder what creates that perfect color of blue that you are perceiving.
The longer you ponder on the vast sky,
Your mind wants to perceive further.
You wonder what colors you would see if you could travel to space.
You feel or imagine yourself become excited about the possibility of a grand adventure deep into space.
Your mission,
Should you choose to accept it,
Is to find an answer to the question,
Who are you?
You bravely accept the mission.
You feel or imagine a ship or vessel come to take you on a ride wherever you'd like to go.
You enter the spaceship and sit behind the captain's chair.
Imagine the ship to look any way that you would like it to look.
Imagine how it sounds.
Notice the smells.
Is there a taste in the air?
You touch the navigation panel and imagine feeling the knobs and buttons.
You have the controls and can choose any destination you'd like.
You easily navigate the ship deeper into outer space and decide to try and find the end of the universe.
You ponder the mission,
Who are you?
As you travel,
You delight in the peace,
Weightlessness,
And total silence of space.
You feel your limitless potential.
You feel how powerful you are and how connected you are to everything else.
As you think about the question,
Who am I,
You notice another ship coming to join you.
It feels somehow familiar and comfortable.
You welcome the newcomers as you dock together and wonder what will happen next.
You are invited to enter the other craft.
As you begin to recognize people from your life and past that you love,
You recognize their family members,
Friends,
Teachers,
Animals,
And helpful memories,
And they surround you in a supportive circle.
You feel so loved and honored by this group.
You ask them the question you've been contemplating.
Who are you?
As a group,
They tell you they are each a part of you.
They are serving as your guardians and your protectors.
You feel that this group of beings wants your highest and best always.
The guardians ask you to think of a time when you were truly happy.
How did you feel in that moment?
What were you doing?
Who were you with?
Where were you?
As you think of happiness,
Your heart fills with a loving and peaceful vibration.
Yes,
That feeling is the answer to the question.
You are love.
You are peace.
You are that joy.
Your heart fills with a deep sense of knowing and gratitude.
You feel in your whole body that what they are saying is true.
Your guardians remind you that you can always access the secret gift by sharing your light,
Your love,
And your joy with others.
You thank them for helping you succeed in your mission and for supporting you.
You say goodbye and board your ship again.
You are excited to find a wormhole that takes you easily back to Earth and to your comfortable hammock swinging on the beach.
Your attention turns back to the soft sounds of the ocean gently lapping onto the beach.
The primordial sound of ohm seems to resonate from the ocean's waves.
This sound fills you with bliss,
Love,
And peace.
Now imagine a screen in front of your closed eyes about six inches beyond your face.
Imagine like a tablet.
And as I name each of the following objects,
Quickly allow the image to appear before your closed eyes on the screen.
Quickly swipe each new image as I name it.
Car moving on the road.
Car going through a tunnel.
Leaves covering the ground in fall.
Decaying garden at the beginning of winter.
Colorful clouds in the sunset.
Pink clouds.
Fluffy clouds.
Stars at night.
Moonlit night.
Full moon.
Dog standing.
Cat sleeping.
Frog hopping.
Horse racing.
Rising sun.
Setting sun.
Ocean waves.
Sacred temple.
Big lake with clear water.
Spider web.
Boat sailing on the water.
Sandy beach.
Sailing on the water.
Bones.
Cross.
Smoke rising from a fire.
A cold winter.
Campfire.
Church bells ringing.
Yogi in meditation.
Infinite ocean.
Calm and quiet.
Dark green jungle.
Snakes.
Lions.
Birds.
Water well going deep down into the earth.
Water well providing life to a village.
Bucket full of water being pulled up from a deep well.
Clouds floating across the sky.
Dark cave.
Bright full moon.
Planets in space.
Darkness of space.
Silence in space.
Wise teacher.
Wise teacher.
Wisdom keeper.
You.
Now slowly bring your attention back to the comfortable space that you're in.
Bring your presence back to your body,
Back to where you are lying or sitting.
Notice how you feel.
Bring your attention back into your body and back into the room or space that you're in.
Notice that you're lying or sitting on the ground in this space.
Notice how connected your body feels to the ground beneath you.
Notice any sounds that you can hear from outside.
Notice any sounds that you can hear around you.
Notice the sound of your breath.
Notice if you can hear anyone else breathing in this space or focus on the sound of your breath.
Remember the positive intention or sankalpa you set for yourself at the beginning.
Please repeat that goal or intention to yourself three times now.
Feel that intention deep in your core.
Now when you are ready,
Slowly allow your fingers and toes energy move.
Allow the movements to get a little bigger as the energy gets stronger.
Stretch your arms and sway back and forth if that feels good to you.
Perhaps rock back and forth a few times,
Letting the energy move throughout your whole body.
When you are fully present and aware,
Please sit up in a comfortable position with your eyes still lightly closed.
Feel free to join me as I chant Aum three times to complete our Yoga Nidra session.
I'll begin by emptying my lungs of any of the air.
Filling my lungs and then beginning.
