Hello and welcome.
I'm Sarah and today I'm going to guide you through a very gentle body scan,
A way of connecting to your body,
A way of allowing your mind to be at peace,
To be at one with the world.
So,
To begin,
Just settle yourself somewhere comfortable,
Somewhere you can be supported,
Safe,
And learn to be calmer,
Quieter.
And once you're in that place,
Whether you're sitting or lying,
Just softly close your eyes if that feels comfortable for you.
Or maybe you can just gaze out of the window into the half distance,
Whatever feels best for you,
Whatever works.
And from this place,
Just allow your body,
As best it can,
To sink down into the place you're resting.
We all build tension in our bodies as the days go by,
Without perhaps really noticing until now.
So,
This body scan,
These few moments together,
Will hopefully teach you how to begin to release that tension,
Softly,
Gently.
We can begin by imagining,
As best you can,
A beam of light coming from somewhere outside of you.
I don't know what colour that light might be.
I don't know what properties it might have.
It will be different for everybody,
And perhaps different each time you listen.
But just imagine that light gradually and gently beaming down onto your body,
Beginning at the top of your head and gently bathing you with its light.
Just a soft energy,
Protecting,
Securing,
Beginning to move along your face,
And as it moves through your forehead,
That gap between your eyebrows,
Your cheeks,
As the light touches each part of your skin,
Your muscles,
Just imagine those muscles gently softening,
Letting go,
And sinking deeper into the place you're resting.
That light moving down through your jaw,
Your teeth parting,
Your tongue loosening,
Just resting quietly in your mouth.
That energy moving down through your neck and throat,
And softly along your shoulders,
Your muscles releasing,
Relaxing,
Letting go,
Flowing down along your arms,
Perhaps noticing muscles in your arms that you hadn't noticed before now,
And as you do,
Just quietly letting those muscles go.
And as you do this,
Perhaps you can notice your breath slowing,
Softening.
It may well be that you feel a need to sigh,
To yawn,
To just let go,
And if you do,
That's good,
And if you don't,
Maybe you will in a moment or two.
And as you do this,
Perhaps you can notice that light flowing down across your chest,
Through your tummy,
Moving through your body and into the muscles of your back,
Those muscles resting,
Relaxing,
Releasing.
The light flowing down into your hips,
Your glutes,
And then down through your thighs.
With each easy breath out,
The muscles releasing,
Letting go,
Sinking deeper and deeper into the place upon which you rest.
The soles of your feet releasing,
And your toes relaxing one by one.
Just being here and now,
In this place,
Wherever you might be.
Imagining that light beaming through you from the top of your head,
Through each cell,
Each fibre,
Each muscle.
A flow of energy that releases,
Calms,
And acceptance of where you are,
Here and now,
In this place.
The energy releasing anything that needs to be released,
Just flowing easily away,
Out into the universe.
With each easy breath out,
Releasing.
With each breath in,
Breathing in calm,
Releasing anything that needs to be let go.
Just being in this place,
Giving gratitude for what you've managed today,
Knowing that the more you practice this,
The easier it can become.
It doesn't have to be perfect,
It doesn't have to be anything other than what it is.
In this moment,
Everything is good enough.
And you can be in this place for as long as you want to be.
And me gradually becoming aware of the space around you.
Allowing a curiosity about your muscles,
Which arm or leg might wish to move first.
Becoming aware of any sounds in your environment,
Sensations,
Other messages brought to you through your senses.
Only opening your eyes and coming back when you and your unconscious and conscious minds are ready to support you in the most positive of ways as your day unfolds.
Thank you for listening.
I hope you'll come again.
