The octopus.
Spirit Animal Talk.
Take a breath.
Close your eyes.
And imagine the deep ocean floor.
It's dark.
Quiet.
And feel good.
Picture the creature moving in the dark,
Shifting dissolving into a rock.
And then flowing out of a swirl of color and grace.
That is our spirit animal today,
The octopus.
So the octopus is a creature of water element.
The element brings insight,
Inventiveness,
Cleansing.
And movement to everything it touches.
To encounter the octopus as your spirit animal is to enter the deep currents of your life.
The octopus stands for willpower,
Focus and intelligence.
As an animal ally,
It looks at circumstances,
Adapts,
Flexes and defines strategic ways to improve things.
There is no rigidity,
There is no this is the only way.
The octopus knows many ways to go wrong.
Optical symbolizes includes fragility,
Adaptiveness,
Selflessness,
Intelligence,
Awareness,
Regeneration,
And infinity.
These qualities belong to someone at peace with the truth that life is not a straight line.
And the core of octopus symbolism is complexity.
Its nervous system and varied behaviors shows nature's beauty.
And the Octopus Spiritual Medicine urges us to explore life's details,
Embrace diverse perspectives,
And see how things are connected.
And there is the ink.
The octopus uses the ink cloud as a defense against predators.
It shows the power of letting go of what no longer serves us.
It's an invitation to let go of limiting beliefs,
Outdated stories,
And emotional baggage.
This release may at first disorient,
But it can make space for clarity and new beginnings.
The octopus does not fight every challenge.
Sometimes.
It simply releases and swims free.
How can this remarkable creature support you?
In your life today.
There are a few points.
So when life asks you to adapt.
The octopus does not resist change,
It becomes change.
With the skills to camouflage and blend in,
The octopus symbolizes facing transitions or uncertain times.
It encourages us to embrace change and flow with the tides.
Adapting our strategy to match the situation and if you're facing a transition Remember?
You have more forms than you think.
Another way is when feeling overwhelmed,
Remembering the octopus as a nerve cluster,
Like a mini brain,
At the base of each arm.
It completes tasks quickly.
And each arm can act independently,
So you don't have to do everything the same way or all at once.
Let different parts of yourself handle different things.
You are multidimensional.
Another way is when you carry guilt or regret.
The Octopus stands for acceptance and forgiveness.
Connecting with Octopus energy can help you let go of self-blame and live guilt free.
The octopus can regrow a lost arm.
What has been lost or broken in you can regenerate.
And then the other one part is when you need to be still.
The spirit of Octopus says he must sometimes wait until the last moment.
Blend in and flow.
Not everything needs to be announced or seen.
Quiet strategic stillness holds great power.
Spiritually,
The octopus shows deep energy in many lessons to those who learn.
Living on the seafloor reminds us to stay grounded,
Even in your fluid,
Shapeshifting moments.
Stay rooted.
Stay connected to what is real.
So the octopus has captured the human imagination across every ocean-going culture in the earth.
I like to tip on a few.
So one is in the Mahori mythology,
There is a story of the navigator Ku.
Or coupé.
So Coop let his people,
And every season,
Fished,
Returning with canoes full.
And one day.
No fish could be caught.
They'd kept vanishing.
And then Koop saw an octopus trail on his line.
And he tracked a giant octopus.
And with respect I will try to pronounce this name.
Not too likey.
The pet of a powerful sorcerer from Hawaki.
Coupe chased it across the ocean and fought a great battle.
Cutting off his arms with his answer.
This legend describes the discovery of New Zealand.
The octopus left him there,
Even as a rival.
He was a guy.
In ancient Hawaii,
The god Kanalua was symbolized by a squid or an octopus.
He was linked to seamanship,
The ocean,
And the teaching of magic.
Pionaloa was the subconscious of the god Kane,
The conscious mind.
So the depth beneath the waking world.
Some Hawaiian myths say our universe is a remnant of a previous one.
And the only survivor is the octopus.
The octopus is the keeper of what came before.
And among Pacific Northwest Coast tribes,
The octopus is often called devilfish,
Which was seen as a medicine animal with power over weather,
Sickness and health.
It is a key totem for the Haida and Tingit peoples.
So across cultures,
The octopus is never ordinary.
It is always a gatekeeper of something ancient,
Deep and unseen.
So moving from the mystical part to the spiritual part,
Let's have a quick look at how it's being seen here actually on Earth by the biologists and the scientists.
I picked out two things about it,
A living octopus that I found really changing how I look at this animal.
So,
One is,
Its intellectants evolved completely separated,
Separately from ours.
So the octopus can do puzzles,
Untie knots,
Open jars,
And toddler-proof cases,
And escape easily.
Their intelligence evolves on a completely different path than ours.
About two-thirds of their neurons are in their arms and not in their head.
Spiritually,
This means a creature reached wisdom creating and problem solving in ways different from ours.
The Octopus proves that there is more than one way to be intelligent and to know.
There is.
More than one way to move through life with grace.
If the octopus intelligence evolved differently,
It suggests that evolution shapes many forms of intelligence.
So you don't have to think the way others think.
You don't have to learn the way others learn.
And the octopus honors your unique way of knowing.
And another thing I found very interesting is there is evidence that octopuses dream.
As we do.
In 2023,
Scientists filmed an octopus waking from what they saw as a nightmare.
During sleep,
Octopuses change colors rapidly,
Flashing patterns and use as if living.
Something in their speech.
And scientists believe that the octopus skin is sensitive to light and that they can taste and smell with their arms.
So imagine dreaming with a body that experiences the world so richly.
So the octopus even sleeping creates.
And in rest it moves through unseen worlds.
This invites you to honour your inner world,
Your dreams,
Your vision,
Your intuition.
And the octopus tells us that The unseen is real.
S is the received.
So the main share of the octopus is to embrace your complexity Remain adaptable and to trust your inner guidance.
Release what holds you back and remember,
In the darkest depth of your unique wisdom,
You are not lost.
You're adapting.
You're not broken.
You're regenerating.
You are not alone.
You are carrying the wisdom of the oldest creature on earth.
Just breathe and let the octopus guide you home.
