Hi,
I am Rohit Bhardwaj,
The incorrigible optimist.
Yes,
In the bleakest and the grimmest of situations I always discover a ray of light.
This too shall pass and we will reach the source of that faint light eventually.
I believe in this in my entire body,
Soul and mind.
I want to share and translate this boundless optimism into your life so that things like anxiety,
Depression,
Sadness,
Unwellness are banished from your life.
This is a talk which is partly infused with knowledge,
Partly infused with meditation,
Partly infused with fun and a specific small little SOS whenever there is a expected attack of anxiety or the anxiety is already attacking us.
We all become anxious in various degrees of intensity as we know whenever we perceive a threat to the self.
Now,
What is this self?
Its definition has changed over the years and it varies from one person to another.
So,
Now in this series of talk,
Come practice,
We will explore the aspects of anxiety from different angles.
Today,
We will focus on immediate relief.
Let us start.
Sit comfortably.
If already experiencing a racing heart or sweating or fear or restlessness,
Then simply focus your attention onto your nostrils.
The two nostrils,
The edge of the nose,
Bring all your attention to that spot.
Feel,
Do not feel the breath going in or going out.
Feel the temperature of the breath that is going in and going out.
Every inhale,
It is cool.
Every exhale,
It is hot.
Take a deep breath in,
In,
Cool.
Release the breath,
Hot.
Feel the heat,
Feel the heat,
Feel the heat,
Feel the cool.
In-breath,
Cool.
Out-breath,
Hot.
In-breath,
Cool.
Out-breath,
Hot.
Move your entire attention to the point between your eyebrows.
Vrikuti Madhya,
As we call it in Sanskrit.
As you take the breath in,
Feel the heat,
Feel the cool rising right up to the point between your eyebrows.
As you exhale,
Feel the heat emanating from that spot.
Imagine a light,
A candle light is lit there inside.
Your eyes are closed and there is a flame of a candle light between the two eyebrows.
Let that flame take away all your anxiety,
All your fears,
All your insecurities,
All the feeling of un-ness,
Sadness.
Throw all of that into the flame that is lit between the eyebrows.
The spot on your forehead,
Between the eyebrows,
That is the place.
Take a deep breath in,
Take a deep breath out.
In,
Out.
Now,
Add the sound of OM to it.
The primordial sound,
The sound of the cosmos,
The original sound.
So,
Take a deep breath in,
Close your eyes.
Empty the entire set of thoughts.
Once again,
Brace yourself.
Take a deep breath in.
OM.
Excellent.
Another deep breath in.
We will do this five times.
We have already done it twice.
So,
Let us do it for the third time.
Deep breath in.
OM.
Excellent.
Excellent.
All your thoughts are leaving the mind.
The fear that was causing the anxiety to rise,
That wave has already passed.
Now,
You are on the upswing.
The up is coming.
The optimism is coming.
So,
Let us do two more OMs.
Take a deep breath in.
OM.
Excellent.
The entire mind is now empty.
There are no thoughts.
Whatever was there,
We picked that up and is burning in that candle,
That small candle flame,
Which is between the eyes.
Between the eyes and at the center of the line joining your two eyebrows.
That is the place.
A small little flame is burning and every obnoxious thought,
Which is stray and which is trying to cause some kind of turmoil in the head,
We consign it to this flame.
And now,
With utmost joy,
Let us do this OM for the fifth time.
Take a deep,
Deep,
Deep breath in.
OM.
Relax.
Observe the breath coming back.
Observe the calm spreading in your head.
Observe how the attack of anxiety has been foiled.
The incorrigible optimist has won.
Be on the lookout.
Tomorrow,
We will have another session,
Another track,
Taking care of another aspect of anxiety.
Thank you.
