Hello and a warm welcome to Inside Timer.
I'm Rahul Singh.
If you're awake right now,
Start here.
Not with the clock,
Not with how long you've been awake.
Not with tomorrow.
Start here.
With this moment.
You are awake right now.
That is all you know.
It does not mean the rest of the night is lost.
It does not tell you how tomorrow will feel.
This is one moment.
Don't turn it into a verdict on the whole night.
Let your eyes close if they aren't already.
Feel the weight of your head against the pillow.
The shoulders.
The Back.
The legs.
Nothing needs to change yet.
Sometimes you wake and the mind is already halfway into a thought,
Before you even know why you are awake.
A conversation,
A worry,
Something you need to do.
A question that suddenly feels important.
Or maybe there is no clear reason at all.
You are simply awake.
And almost immediately the mind begins evaluating.
Why am I awake?
How long has it been?
What if I can't get back to sleep?
You do not need to answer any of those questions.
Start here.
Feel one place where the body meets the bed.
The back of the head.
The shoulders.
The hips.
Choose one.
Feel the contact.
New technique.
No effort.
Just Contact.
Let one breath happen.
And another.
You do not need to deepen it,
You do not need to slow it.
Let the breath breathe itself.
And as the next exhale leaves,
Don't help it,
Let it go on its own.
Perhaps the shoulders drop only as much as they want to.
Perhaps the weight of the face settles a little more toward the pillow.
Nothing to force.
Perhaps there is urgency now,
A feeling that you need to get back to sleep.
Soon,
Now,
Before too much of the night disappears.
Notice that urgency.
And leave it unanswered.
You do not need to fall back asleep right now.
You only need to stop making this moment harder than it already is.
You are awake.
Nothing needs to be decided because of that.
The mind may look ahead,
If I don't sleep soon.
You don't need the rest of that sentence.
It may look backward.
I've already been awake for.
You don't need to finish that one either.
Start here.
Blanket.
Breath.
Darkness.
This moment is smaller than the story the mind may be making about it.
You do not know how the rest of the night will unfold.
You do not know exactly how tomorrow will feel.
And you do not need to know.
If you feel the urge to check the time,
Notice the urge itself and stay here.
Not because the time is forbidden,
But because knowing it gives the mind something else to calculate.
Let this part of the night remain unmeasured.
Feel the jaw.
The Dung.
The space around the eyes.
The hands.
If you notice holding,
Hold a little less.
Not complete relaxation,
Just less holding.
That is enough.
There is nothing wrong with wanting sleep.
You came here because you want to rest.
But you do not have to chase sleep to make room for rest.
For now,
You can let yourself be awake.
Without making wakefulness your task.
No fixing.
No judging.
No deciding what this means.
Just this.
A body lying down.
A breath moving.
The quiet of the room.
One moment passing into another.
If the mind says,
This night is going badly,
Leave the thought unfinished.
You do not know the whole night yet.
If thoughts continue,
Let them continue somewhere in the background.
If wakefulness remains.
Let it remain without becoming a problem.
The body can still be held.
The breath can still move.
The night can still pass.
Not the whole night.
Only this moment.
Bed beneath you.
Breadmoving.
Darkness around you.
Nothing to measure.
Nothing to solve.
Nothing to make happen.
Just here.
And then here.
And you.
Nothing to do now.
