The magic flying carpet.

To get ready for today's relaxation story,

Lie down on your back somewhere you feel comfortable.

It might be the floor,

Mat,

Bed or other comfortable place.

Once you're lying down,

Place your legs slightly apart and have your palms facing up to the sky.

And when you're ready,

Gently close your eyes.

Let your body relax.

A way to help you relax is to breathe deeply through your nose into your belly.

Blowing it up like a balloon and then as you breathe out,

Let the breath slowly come out of your mouth.

And your belly go down as the air comes out of your mouth.

Repeat this two more times.

Now that we are ready for the story,

We will begin.

Keeping our eyes closed,

Imagine you are lying down outside on the grass under a beautiful tree.

The grass is long and soft and a beautiful green colour.

A light breeze blows through the grass and it gently touches your skin and moves your hair.

You feel calm.

As you lie there,

You look across the grass and see a beautiful rug lying there in the sun.

You stare at the rug and wonder why it is there.

It has many beautiful colours,

Shapes and patterns,

All shining and sparkling in the sun.

Curious,

You gently stand up and walk over to the rug.

As you get closer,

You notice it looks soft like the grass.

You lie down on it and it feels so lovely.

Closing your eyes,

You relax your body into the rug.

It feels like a cloud.

Lying on the rug,

You breathe deeply into your belly again and start to relax even more.

As you are lying there,

You notice that with every breath you take,

The rug is starting to float up off the ground with you on it.

You realise this is no ordinary rug.

It is a magic carpet.

As you slowly breathe into your belly,

The magic carpet rises higher and higher.

It floats off the grass and up into the trees.

You can see the birds in their nests and even the little bees and ladybugs flying around and resting on the leaves and flowers of the trees.

You feel light,

Happy and safe on the magic carpet.

The magic carpet continues to gently float up above the trees to the sky.

You look around you at the beauty up there.

Birds of all different colours and sizes fly past you,

Singing beautiful songs to each other as they fly.

The magic carpet continues to float higher.

It's now reaching the clouds.

The clouds float around you.

You look at their many different shapes and some you even float through.

They feel soft and tickly on your skin.

The magic carpet continues to float up and up.

And as it does,

You carefully look down over the side of the carpet and see how tiny the birds and trees look now.

It's amazing.

As you continue to float up,

You float up above the clouds and now when you look down you don't see the trees and birds but you see beautiful white fluffy clouds.

They look like a white fluffy blanket.

Lying back down on the carpet,

You notice it is so quiet and peaceful up there high above the clouds.

You feel so cuddly and safe up there on your magic carpet.

Your body relaxes into the soft carpet and your eyes are still closed.

If this makes you happy,

You can let it bring a smile to your face.

You love your magic carpet.

You whisper to it,

I love you.

The carpet smiles and whispers back,

I love you too.

And then wraps itself around you to give you a hug.

As the carpet uncurls from the hug,

It gently starts to float back down to the clouds of many shapes.

And then it floats down through them and they tickle your face and body again.

The magic carpet floats further down where the birds of different colors and sizes are flying.

And then down through the trees where you see the birds in their nests and the bees and ladybugs flying and crawling around.

The magic carpet floats down and down until it gently rests back on the soft green grass.

You can feel the ground underneath you and still the soft magic carpet under your skin.

You are safe and sound on the ground.

Your eyes are still closed.

You reach out and give the magic carpet a hug and say,

Thank you.

And the magic carpet smiles and hugs you back.

See you next time,

It says.

You gently roll off the carpet onto the grass and the magic carpet starts to float back up off the ground.

It floats up to the trees and up and up until it disappears up into the clouds.

See you next time,

You whisper as you wave goodbye.

Keeping our eyes closed,

Let's gently wiggle your fingers and your toes.

We're starting to wake up our bodies.

Make circles with your wrists and ankles one way and then the other.

If you like,

You can stretch your arms above your head having a big body stretch.

And gently rolling over to one side.

And when you're ready,

You can gently sit up.
