A client dreamed he was walking inside a clean sewer pipe. Another person was there too. At first the pipe was flat, but then it turned upward at a 90-degree angle. He made the turn upward, but couldn't find his way out into the sunlight. Instead he was left hanging on with his left hand, seemingly stuck. Premasudha explains that this dream symbolizes where many seekers are: in the dark, symbolized by being under the earth, not having yet found the light in themselves. The sewer pipe stands for the complexes in which we are stuck. The other fellow—his unconscious—knows the way out. By imagining, for example, Amma making an opening for him, or asking the other fellow to lead the way out, the man can help himself find freedom. Imagining this dream—being in a sewer pipe and finding our way out—can help all of us awaken and find the light.
