Hi,
Good morning.
This is Pam with Simplicity Life Coaching,
Here to get started in you creating your new bedroom space with some feng shui tips and ideas to make it feel simple and sensuous.
First off,
Your bed placement is of utmost importance.
You want the head of your bed up against the wall,
Not a window,
With the foot of your bed preferably facing another wall or closet with doors on it.
If you have to have it face a window or entryway,
Hang a mirror adjacent to the end of your bed to be able to reflect your energy back into the bed.
Your bed is of the most important thing in your bedroom,
So make sure you have a good solid mattress that fits your specific body type for an excellent night's sleep.
Your bed frame can reflect the wood element with a simple wood type headboard or even a metal element to your liking.
Another huge rule of thumb is never keep anything under your bed.
Your space on your bed should be absolutely free and clear of objects at all times with the free-flowing air space around you.
As things underneath you can feel very clustered,
Cluttered,
And bring negative energy.
Next,
Place two simple matching nightstands on either side of the bed with two matching lamps.
Again,
Adjust to your own taste and style.
Have only two to three items on each stand as well,
With one of them being a small clock type sound machine if you desire white type noise at night.
Your clock should have a subtle white,
Green,
Or blue face time.
Never get one with a red face if possible.
As red reflects high power energy and is the fire element,
And you could add this fire element to an entrance wall,
Preferably on a dresser with some red flowers or a picture with some red in it.
With dresser placement,
You may place this anywhere you have extra space in the room.
Even putting it in a big closet is ideal.
That might leave you room for a very small type comfortable chair with a small table next to it for relaxing reading.
Once you have your own clear of clutter and placement of the furniture,
You can begin to add your own colors and decor of your liking.
Look at lots of sample pictures and get some feng shui ideas from them.
Paint colors could reflect the earth elements like pastel greens,
Browns,
Yellows,
And some blues.
One item I love to have in every bedroom is to add the water element and that is one life or two plants in a black planter pot or vase.
Great plants for oxygenating the air are the snake plant,
Orchids,
Or hanging spider plant.
All of these type plants help clean the toxins out of the air and are pretty hardy plants as you really only need to water them a couple times a month.
You could add the metal element with some small picture frames or decor as well,
But remember one or two items in the room or in surfaces and on the wall.
Remember we are wanting a clean clutter free environment.
My rule of thumb has always been that if you haven't worn it,
Used it,
Read it,
Or looked at it with purpose in at least six to twelve months,
Maybe it's time to just let it go.
You can gift it,
Rehome it to a good charity,
You could even try and sell it,
Or you could just recycle it in the proper place.
If you feel you cannot part with it,
Then box it up and put it away for redecorating with later.
Never keep broken objects or torn clothes.
Also never let dead plants or flowers stick around either.
This is negative energy that can hold you back.
Let it go.
So hopefully you're excited about creating your new space and with that I just want to address one more thing and that is electronics.
Electronics like computers,
TVs,
Anything electronic except for maybe a sound clock radio should really have no place in your bedroom.
Your bedroom should be for rest and rejuvenation only.
Also when going to sleep always have your room be as dark as possible.
So now that you have your bedroom all in simple positive order you can feel very excited about your new space and look forward to going to bed and waking up.
After all this is the most important space in your home and as it is where you begin and end your day.
So make it special and make it yours with all your desired designs.
Just have fun with it.
I will stop here and do another podcast on sleeping patterns and why we have difficulty sleeping.
Till then happy Feng Shui and have beautiful restful nights.
Love Pam
