Alexis here again.
Today I'm going to shake things up.
So you can start this practice either standing up or sitting down.
You can do it either way but I'm going to ask you to get a bit silly.
If you're in the workplace that's alright.
You can simply do it right from your desk.
But if you're home maybe have a bit of fun with this.
What I'm going to ask you to do is actually a shortcut to the formal practice.
It's a way to connect with our bodies and understand this idea of getting grounded.
Okay,
Let's go for it.
So I just want you to begin by finding a long spine whether you're seated or standing upright.
I really want you to plant your feet into the ground.
Feel really supported.
Find length.
Find pride in the chest.
Maybe there's even a bit of a smile as the edges of your lips curl up.
Once you find your superman or superwoman pose all we're going to do today is give a bit of a shake.
So I want you to just shake your arms.
I'm shaking them along with you.
So go for it.
Shake the arm up.
Shake the arm down.
Maybe you shake one at a time or you shake them both.
If the movement's got to be small for whatever reason,
If you feel a bit silly then just shake the hands.
You can shake them up.
You can shake them down.
Pretend you're shaking a martini shaker.
Just simply shake.
Now that you know what the movement is,
See if you can soften down the eyelids.
If you want to add to the movement maybe you shake a leg or two whether you're standing or sitting.
Just keep shaking.
Let's go for five.
Four.
Come on,
You got this.
Three.
Two.
One.
Drop the arms.
Stop the shaking.
Try not to fidget.
Find the stillness.
Tune in and notice what you feel after the movement.
The sensations in the hands,
Arms.
Maybe even a change in the breath.
Notice this greater connection to your body simply by shaking.
Do you feel any sensations in the fingers?
The legs?
Notice where the breath is more present.
If you haven't softened down your eyelids,
Really see if you can now and just simply feel.
What if some days when it all got to be too much or you were frustrated you just took a moment to shake it out and then to close down the eyes and notice.
Maybe it even feels good to act a little silly.
To feel your body.
To connect with the breath a bit more.
And that's your practice today.
Nothing to overthink.
Just the invitation sometimes to shake it out.
Bye.
