Tonight we're getting nice and cozy in our bed.
As we learn about the sleepy sloth who yawned around the world.
Once upon a snuggly time,
In the very top branches of a cozy rainforest tree,
There lived a very sleepy sloth named Slowey.
He was so sleepy.
In fact,
That one yawn from him could make other animals start yawning too.
Want to try?
Go on.
Give your best big stretchy sloth yawn like this.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Oh wow,
You are a natural.
That yawn was so powerful,
It floated on the breeze and across the forest.
The first creature to catch the yawn was a tiny little parrot.
She flapped her wings,
Flapped twice,
And then.
.
.
Polly's sleepy too.
Then the yawn floated across the sky to a family of monkeys swinging through the trees.
One monkey caught the yawn mid-swing.
He scratched his belly.
Slow down.
And said,
I think we'll just hang here a while.
And he curled up in a hammock of vines in the trees as he fell asleep.
That magical yawn kept traveling over the mountains,
Across the oceans,
Through the clouds made of marshmallow mist.
It even made its way to a little polar bear in the snowy North Pole.
He stretched out his chubby little paws,
Wiggled his cute little nose,
And gave a fuzzy little yawn.
Aw,
Boo.
Then he rolled into a ball like a little marshmallow and he started to snore.
Finally,
The yawn made its way all the way back to you and to me.
Did you feel it?
Maybe your eyes are just a tiny bit heavier now.
Maybe your arms want to wrap around something cozy like a pillow or a blanket.
Maybe you want to stretch one more time just like Slowie the sloth.
Big breath in and a slow yawn out.
Perfect.
Now even Slowie is sound asleep,
Curled up like a cinnamon bun in the trees.
And so are the parrots and the monkeys and the polar bears.
And you,
You are about to be there too,
Like all the animals who caught the wave of Slowie's yawn.
And close your eyes.
Let your breath go and get slow and quiet.
Let your body feel heavy.
And soft.
The world is yawning with you and it's time to sleep.
Good night sleepy sloth and sweet dreams.
