What happens when something we’ve built our life upon becomes a question? In this Men’s Council reflection, we explore the courage to examine the beliefs, assumptions, and stories that shape our lives beliefs about God, masculinity, relationships, success, ourselves, and the world around us. Inspired by René Descartes’ invitation to question our foundations at least once in our lives, these Council prompts invite us beyond intellectual debate and into our lived experience. What does it actually feel like when certainty begins to loosen? What do we fear, grieve, discover, or become free to see? And what belief or story might be asking for our curiosity today, not necessarily to reject it, but simply to hold it as a question rather than something we must defend? May we have the courage to question without becoming cynical, the humility to admit when we do not know, and the openness to discover what our lives are still teaching us.
