Christian Prayer - Protection & Silence

The practice begins with the Prayer for Protection by Richard Foster.

"By the authority of the Almighty God,
I surround myself with the light of Christ,
I cover myself with the blood of Christ,
And I seal myself with the cross of Christ,
All dark and evil spirits must leave now.
No influence is allowed to come near me,
But that it is first filtered through the Light of Jesus Christ in whose name I pray.
Amen. "

Followed by a time of listening prayer.

Listening prayer does not always involve hearing words from God. Listening prayer may include receiving new light into the nature of things as we meditate on God's word, creation, or our experience. But it can also consist of strictly being in God's presence in silence. God can communicate to us without words merely by the Loving Presence.

And thank you for joining me for this 10-minute session of silent prayer.

It will begin with the prayer for protection by Richard Foster.

Then you will hear the sounding of a bell.

This is to prepare you for a time of silent listening within the secret place of your heart.

At the conclusion of this special prayer time,

You will hear the second sounding of a bell,

Which will conclude our time together today.

Prayer for protection.
