A dull light sneaks its way into the room.

Daylight checks if it's okay to join the conversation.

A meaningless exchange carries my desires on ships of word and wit across an upholstered sea like hidden passengers on those old boats in the movies.

With my back to you,

I ruthlessly search for the next word that will justify turning around and going for it.

That couch looks way more comfortable than the floor,

Yet it's miles away with you on it.

A dull light sneaks its way across the room.

Its gift of silence grants a repose from meaningless words and courage springs upward from the earth like a bean sprout searching for the sun.

A crash test dummy hits an airbag at 50 times slow motion.

Time kneels down gently and whispers to me,

I do not exist.

Holding our faces in its palms.
