An Introduction To The Course
A huge welcome to this course and I'm so delighted you are joining me here. In this introductory section, we'll look at what this course is all about and what it doesn't involve. I'll share my own background in coming to this understanding of body mindfulness and talk about the reasons why we start to ignore our body.

Why Is Body Mindfulness So Important?
In this lesson, we'll be considering the benefits of body mindfulness and I'll share three main reasons why this exploration can be so helpful.
We'll also look at how the use of the body can go wrong.

The Body Mindfulness Model
In this lesson, I'll share my Body Mindfulness Model which will help us understand how to use the body more gently and effectively.
The model is divided into three sections - the mind and body connection (where we will look at the role of our thinking), increasing awareness (I'll introduce you to the idea of body mapping) and decreasing tension.

Practical Exercise One: Lying Down Body Mindfulness
It's time for a revitalising mind exercise to reconnect with the whole body. In this lesson, we'll lie down on the floor and during a relaxing visualisation, we'll release tension and calm the body and mind.
You will need a couple of books to put under your head during this activity.

Practical Exercise Two: Sitting Mindfully
In this lesson, we'll explore some of the problems with sitting and the chairs we sit on and then use a visualisation to sit more mindfully and with more ease.

Practical Exercise Three: Standing Mindfully
Would you like to be able to stand for longer without feeling the strain? In this lesson, we’ll turn our attention to each part of the body, releasing tension and leaning how to stand lightly and effortlessly.

Practical Exercise Four: Walking Mindfully
In this final lesson of the main practical exercises, we'll explore walking mindfully. We’ll begin by looking at how we can unknowingly create tension in the body when we walk and then we’ll turn our attention to using the body more gently and softly when we move.

Discovering Our Body Use Habits
How aware are you of how you use your body? All of us develop habits over time of using our bodies but a lot of the time, these are outside our conscious awareness. In this lesson, we'll start to bring our attention to noticing what these habits are.

Body Wisdom Mindfulness
When we start to hone our body mindfulness we can also increase our awareness of the deep wisdom of the body which we can access through our emotions. This lesson includes a short visualisation to tap into the intuition of the body to help us in our daily lives.

Mindfulness And Driving
Driving is one of those activities where it is so easy to get caught up in the tension of driving, busy roads and aggressive drivers but in this lesson, I'll share my top five tips on improving body mindfulness to help you drive with more ease.

Additonal Short Body Mindfulness Exercises
As I have said throughout this course, body mindfulness is an ongoing practice. There is always something more that we can discover about how we use the body and learning to use it with more ease. So in this lesson, I've included several short exercises you can do throughout your day to increase your awareness.
