Introduction Talk
In this introduction talk I chat about what trauma is, its impact on us & what its takes me to heal. I include my personal story & also what you can expect to find in this course. This session offers a safe, nurturing space to begin your journey toward living fully again with love, meaning and joy in your heart

Acceptance & Softening Resistance
In this gentle grounding meditation, we explore acceptance as a doorway to healing after trauma. Rather than giving up or resigning ourselves, genuine acceptance invites us to see life exactly as it is, right now, with openness and compassion. Together, we’ll soften resistance, reconnect with the stability of the body and open the heart to the love and joy that are part of our true nature.

Self-Forgiveness
Forgiving ourselves after trauma can feel like one of the hardest steps - and yet it’s also one of the most freeing. In this guided meditation you’ll be gently led through a Tibetan Buddhist tonglen practice, meeting the part of yourself that feels wounded, guilty or burdened. Through the breath, you’ll learn to take in this self’s pain and transform it into love, compassion and forgiveness, offering it back as light and healing warmth. This process softens self-judgment, melts inner resistance and opens the heart to self-acceptance

Landing On Safe Ground
Trauma can leave us feeling disconnected from our bodies, as if our sense of safety has been shaken loose. In this gentle guided meditation we focus on the simple yet powerful practice of relaxing and grounding - reconnecting with the support beneath us, the steadiness of the breath and the sensations within the body. By resting our awareness in this safe, nourishing foundation, we begin to loosen the constricted energy that trauma leaves behind, making space for deeper embodiment in the lessons ahead

Reconnect With Your Body
Trauma can cause us to freeze, tense and disconnect from the natural flow of sensation in the body. Return to embodied awareness through a full body sweep - moving from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet and back into a sense of whole-body presence. With compassion and patience, you’ll learn to notice subtle holdings or contractions and allow them to soften. This practice not only releases buried energy from the body but also builds trust in your inner world, laying the groundwork for connecting with the vibrant subtle body in later lessons.

Awakening The Subtle Body
Once we feel grounded in our bodies, we can begin to sense a deeper dimension of our being - the subtle body. This meditation guides you from the solid presence of your breath and body into the spacious awareness of your inner vitality. Soften the subtle holding that keeps you contracted, open into a sense of vibrancy and aliveness and explore the nuanced movements of your energy body. With compassion, patience and non-judgment, you’ll cultivate a state of grounded spaciousness where natural joy can arise and the processes of healing can unfold with ease.

Freeing Held Energy From Trauma
When we experience trauma, our natural instinct is to freeze or contract around the pain. While this can be protective, it often traps the energy of the experience in the body, holding it down and preventing the natural release needed. Learn to soften that subtle holding, open into spacious awareness and gently allow sensations, emotion and energetic movements to unfold and liberate as they need to.

Re-Awaken Inner Joy
Beneath all the layers of contraction and protection, we are born with a vibrant, joyful life force. Over time, and especially through trauma, this energy can become muted or buried. In this gentle guided practice you’ll relax deeply, ground into the support beneath you and open into spacious awareness - creating the conditions for your innate joy and love to naturally arise
Les 9
Finding Safety Within
After trauma it’s common to feel subtly unsafe in our own body, as if the ground beneath us has shifted. We may unconsciously dissociate from the body to escape the pain. Yet the body can also become a safe, loving and supportive inner refuge. In this session, explore what it’s like to rest in a sense of safety and comfort within yourself and begin to appreciate your body as a steadfast companion on your healing journey.

Movement As Medicine
Movement practice has been a profoundly transformative part of my healing journey, helping to bring vitality, freedom and joy back into my life. Trauma can obstruct the natural flow of energy, leading to stuck energy in the body that often manifests as stress, pain or emotional tension. In this session, we’ll explore the wisdom of the Tibetan Buddhist philosophy of the 3 Kayas - how these dimensions relate to the flow of energy within us & how moving the body can help to release them

Gratitude: Enjoy Your Transformation
By focusing on what you appreciate in your life, your personal qualities and the support around you, this practice helps retrain the mind to nurture positivity and resilience. It also invites you to set a meaningful intention, encouraging you to move forward with confidence and inspiration on your healing journey.

Honouring The Seasons Within
In this reflection, we explore the often-overlooked importance of honouring the natural cycles of energy and emotion - especially during times of low mood or fatigue. Drawing parallels to the seasonal process of winter’s descent and rest, this teaching encourages compassion for ourselves when we feel down, rather than judgment or pressure to always be “positive” and active. By allowing ourselves to slow down, turn inward and create a safe, nurturing space for what is present, we open to deeper healing and renewal.

I've done many courses on Insight Timer but I feel this has been an excellent course on practising embodiment. You can tell the teacher has deep authority to talk about it through her own personal journey and then leads you to practising embodiment in several ways as you go through the course. I've already recommended it to others and will go through it again.
