
Meeting Your Inner Child - Healing Forest Visualization

This is a guided visualization to meet your joyful Inner Child. You will start off with a short grounding practice, where you will relax into your breath and body. You will then explore a lush healing forest deep within you, where your Inner Child will be happily waiting to meet and reunite with you.

Hello and welcome to this guided visualization on meeting your inner child.
Find a comfortable place where you can sit or lie down.
Feel free to grab anything you need to feel cozy and at ease.
If you feel comfortable you can close your eyes or you can keep them open with a soft gaze so your eyes feel relaxed.
Take the next few moments to tune into your breath bringing awareness to your breath when it enters into your body through an inhale and when it leaves your body through an exhale.
Notice how your body moves with your inhale,
Your chest expanding,
Your belly filling with air creating more space in your body.
Notice how your body moves with the exhale,
Your chest contracting,
Your belly hugging the spine,
Letting go of the previous breath cycle to make room for the new.
Notice what sensations are present in your body.
What is happening inside right now?
See if you can name the sensations you feel without judging them as good or bad right or wrong.
You may feel tension,
Tingling,
Numbness,
Cramping,
Perhaps spaciousness,
Warmth,
Coolness to just name a few.
Continue to take the next few moments to go inward to the sensations that are present within your body.
See if you can relax your shoulders away from your ears,
Unclenching your jaw,
Softening your face,
Letting your mouth open,
Separating your teeth.
As you relax into your body and breath,
See if you can get even more comfortable right now wherever you are.
Perhaps shifting your positioning or relaxing your muscles if you notice any clenching or tension.
As you prepare to meet your inner child,
Imagine yourself standing in a lush healing forest,
A beautiful,
Bright,
Expansive,
And calming forest that has rays of sunlight pouring down from the tall trees surrounding you.
You hear sounds around you,
The sounds and voices of Mother Earth.
What sounds do you hear?
Perhaps the sounds of birds or running of water nearby in a waterfall or creek.
Perhaps a rain hitting the floors of the forest.
Take a moment just to notice what sounds are around you right now.
Take a deep breath in and visualize your healing forest surroundings.
What do you see around you that brings you a sense of peace and comfort?
Take the next few moments to imagine what is around you.
What do you physically feel while in this healing forest?
Perhaps a light breeze,
The warmth of sunshine,
The feel of rain lightly tapping your skin.
Take the next moment to notice what you are physically feeling.
What do you smell right now?
What kinds of trees are surrounding you with their healing scents?
Perhaps pine,
Eucalyptus,
Moss.
If there is a light rain,
Do you smell the fresh forest air mixed with rain?
Notice what smells are surrounding you in your healing forest.
As you immerse yourself deeper into your healing forest,
You'll notice that there is a walking path in front of you,
Wide open and expansive.
You hear a joyful laughter in the distance ahead and start walking down the path.
The sounds of the forest surrounding you as you start moving towards the laughter in the distance.
As you move down the path,
You can see further ahead a small outline of a human in the distance,
Laughing,
Having fun,
Playing with leaves and branches on the forest ground.
It looks like they are creating something.
The sunlight is surrounding this person in a warm glow,
But you also notice a lot of the warm glow is coming from within them.
As you approach closer,
You notice that this small person is a child.
When you move even closer,
You notice that this small child is you,
But younger.
This is your inner child.
Your inner child looks happy to see you,
Running towards you in preparation for a full embrace.
As your inner child nears closer,
You pick them up and embrace them in a warm hug.
Maybe you even do a small spin of joy with them in your arms.
You feel the connection and bond between you and your inner child.
You both are bathed in sunlight,
Warmth,
Joy,
And you both are sharing space in this lush,
Healing forest.
You and your inner child then let go of the embrace,
And you both sit down on the forest ground,
Holding hands while facing one another.
Take a moment to look at your inner child closely in their eyes.
You are taking in their exuberance,
Their joy,
Their sense of wonder.
You smile at them as they smile back to you.
How old is your inner child?
Would you like to call them a term of endearment or enigma?
Perhaps you feel called to refer to them lovingly.
Little sweetheart,
My darling,
Or my love as examples.
You can also take the next moment to ask them right now what they would like to be called by you,
Acknowledging one another's loving presence.
The forest breathes and comes even more alive around you both,
With even more sunshine,
The sounds of birds and other sounds,
The smell of the forest air bathing you both in grounding sense.
You both feel at peace,
Calm,
And connected.
With both of your hands intertwined,
You look at your inner child and you repeat these words to them,
Which you may choose to repeat out loud right now.
I see you.
I hear you.
I am here for you.
I will keep you safe.
I love you.
You and your inner child look once more deeply into each other's eyes,
Taking in the wholeness and beauty that permeates between you both.
You realize you are both not separate,
But that you are one,
Connected and whole.
You both stand up.
You embrace one more time,
Holding them closely to your heart.
As you prepare to journey back to the present,
You tell your inner child that you will visit them often in this healing forest.
Your inner child is happy and looks forward to playing and connecting more with you in the healing forest.
You then watch them as they resume their playing with the leaves and the branches,
With laughter and joy.
You wave at them as you get back onto the walking trail and head back to where you first entered.
Walking along the trail,
Hearing the sounds of the forest fade behind you as you enter back to where you started.
If you feel called to do so,
You can place one or both hands on your heart.
Take a deep breath in through the nose.
Hold in the breath for a few seconds and then sigh out a big exhale out through the mouth.
Take another big deep breath in through the nose.
Hold in the breath for a few seconds and then sigh out a big exhale through the mouth.
As you start to bring yourself back into your breath and body.
Start to bring more awareness back to your surroundings.
Wiggling your fingers,
Your toes,
Stretching your arms overhead,
Legs in front of you if you're laying down,
Adding gentle movement into the body.
You can then slowly start to open your eyes if they were closed,
Bringing yourself back.
As you go about your day,
Evening or perhaps into the dream world as you fall asleep,
Know that your inner child will always be in your healing forest for you to visit and spend time with.
The part of you that is creative,
Joyful,
Intuitive and full of wonder.
This part is always within you in your inner child.
