Welcome,
Whatever brought you to this moment,
Whether you are exhausted,
Anxious,
Overwhelmed,
Or simply ready for something different.
You made the right choice to slow down.
What we're doing today is working directly with your vagus nerve.
The longest nerve in your body,
Running from the base of your skull,
Through your throat,
Your heart,
Your lungs,
And all the way into your digestive system.
It's your body's primary pathway for calm.
And you can activate it intentionally and gently right now.
Lay down and find a comfortable position.
Let your hands rest open and close your eyes.
Begin by simply noticing your breath.
You don't need to change it just yet.
Just feel the air moving in through your nose.
With the subtle expansion of your chest or belly.
And the release of the exhale.
N.
And out.
In.
And out.
In and out.
Next,
Begin to shift to inhaling through your nose.
If you aren't already,
Feeling your belly expand and push out on the inhale.
And on the exhale release slowly through your mouth feeling the body relax even more.
Inhale in through the nose.
And exhale out slowly,
A bit longer this time,
Because a longer exhale signals your vagus nerve that it's safe to shift into parasympathetic mode.
Rest and digest,
Ease and presence.
Breathing in.
.
.
Breathing out slowly Let's do that again.
And exhale.
Keep this rhythm on your own now.
In and out.
And with every long slow exhale,
Your vagus nerve receives the signal.
This is safe.
We can soften and relax.
Now we'll add something powerful.
On your next exhale,
Instead of breathing out in silence,
Release a gentle hum.
Just a soft,
Low,
Mmm.
Let it vibrate in your throat,
In your chest.
Inhale through your nose.
And exhale.
Feel the vibration.
Your vagus nerve is directly connected to your vocal cords,
So this gentle hum is medicine.
One more time.
Inhale.
And mmmmm.
Let it come all the way out.
And notice how your chest feels after that.
Perhaps softer,
Perhaps more open.
This is your system beginning to shift.
And now we move into stillness.
Bring your awareness gently to the top of your head.
Notice any tension there.
And with your exhale invite it to soften.
Move down to your forehead,
Your brow.
Are you holding anything here?
Just let it go.
Next,
Your eyes your jaw.
Let your tongue drop from the roof of your mouth.
And let your face become completely at ease.
Your throat,
This is where your vagus nerve rises.
Notice the subtle pulse of life here.
And let your throat be soft.
Your chest,
Place one hand here if that feels right.
Feel your heart beating steady and faithful,
Always working for you.
Let it be received.
Your belly.
This is your second brain.
A vast network of neurons that communicates constantly with your mind through the vagus nerve.
When your belly is soft,
Your mind becomes clear.
Let it relax.
Your hips.
The backs of your legs.
Your calves.
Your feet.
And all the way to your toes.
Your entire body now.
Heavy and held.
And as you rest here,
Let these words move through you.
Not as thoughts to analyze,
But simply as truths to receive.
My vagus nerve is calm and strong.
My body knows how to regulate itself.
Every breath is healing me at a cellular level.
I am safe in my own body.
Rest is not a reward.
It is my birthright.
Visualize a warm golden light at the base of your skull.
Watch it move slowly and gently.
Down through your throat,
Your heart,
Your lungs,
Your belly.
It's moving along the pathway of your vagus nerve.
Soothing as it goes.
Clearing as it goes.
Restoring as it goes.
This light is your body's own intelligence.
It was always there.
You simply just needed to be still enough to feel it.
Take a full breath in.
Let your chest expand completely.
And a long,
Slow release.
Wiggle your fingers,
Let awareness return to your hands,
Your arms.
Take another breath.
.
.
Feel the room around you.
The sounds and even the temperature of the room.
And when you are ready.
Slowly,
Very gently.
Open your eyes.
Bury this with you.
The vagus nerve reset isn't confined to this moment.
Every slow exhale,
Every hum,
Every moment of stillness.
It all counts.
You are training your nervous system towards ease,
One moment at a time.
