Transcript

Find a comfortable pose here.

Perhaps seated or laying down.

Get cozy.

Begin to observe the breath in and out of the body.

Start to take it deeper.

Inhaling,

Filling the belly up with air,

Allowing that breath to travel into the ribs.

Finally,

Taking one last little sip behind collarbones,

Get very full here and then release the breath.

Continue with a few rounds of this purposeful,

Deep,

Expansive breath.

Marvel at how much air the body can hold.

Allow yourself one more breath like this.

And then as you exhale,

Release your weight downward,

Getting heavy in the body,

Allowing muscles,

Bones,

Tendons to just release.

Allow the eyes to close here if they're not already.

In the center of your field of vision,

Picture a small white dot.

Each time you inhale,

Allow that dot to expand,

To grow as though you are filling it like a balloon.

Ever larger until a brilliant white takes over your whole field of vision.

Watch as this white begins to glisten and shimmer.

Find that you are staring at a blanket of freshly fallen snow,

Laid out before you and untouched.

Gaze at that blank canvas,

Almost blindingly perfect.

You know that you have to step out onto it,

But before you do,

Take a moment to simply appreciate it for what it is,

For its beauty,

For its purity.

Appreciate the silence that surrounds the snow.

No animals or birds or breezes are present here.

Simply you and your breath.

Take one step forward here,

Listening closely to that sound of your boot hitting the snow,

The crunch as it is compacted beneath your weight.

And then travel forward,

Allowing that sound and your steps to become a rhythm,

Allowing that crunch beneath your feet to become comfort.

Feel the cold,

Clean air as you breathe in.

And then watch that fog as the warmed air is released from the body.

In the distance,

A small wooden house,

Smoke rising from the chimney,

Suggesting that there is a very inviting warmth inside.

You know that this is where you are going.

Perhaps you are eager to arrive.

So you increase your pace a little bit,

Allowing the effort to heat the body before you arrive home.

As you approach the house,

Step up on to the wooden front deck.

Listen as that wood creaks beneath your feet,

The cold planks giving way to you.

Reach out for this door handle.

Turn it as you have many times before and step in.

Feel the warmth surround you in this space.

Begin the ritual of removing snow-covered boots,

Coats that suddenly feel much too warm.

Feel the heated air connecting with your cold cheeks.

Take your way over to the fire whose smoke has been calling to you on your walk.

Begin right in front of the bricks,

Allowing yourself to absorb this heat.

And hear that you could reach your hand forward and scoop up a piece of this fire.

Watch as it dances in your palm.

Observe the oranges and the blues as they mingle and play.

Roll this ball between your two hands like clay until you have made a sphere that contains that primal warmth.

Press the ball between your palms and feel as it is dissolved into the body.

Feel it spread to fingertips.

Feel it as it travels through your arms up to the chest.

Allow it to be absorbed down the spine,

Through the hips,

Along the legs,

All the way to the toes.

A tingling sensation spreading through the body.

With each inhale,

Begin to peel that tingling sensation out of your extremities and in toward the center of the body,

Watching it as it curls inward and heads toward heart's center.

Each inhale drawing that energy closer and closer until that ball of warmth has reformed here right at your heart.

Allow it to ignite the fire inside of you,

Warming you from the inside.

Allow yourself a few minutes to sit in this cozy space.

Absorbing your fire.
