Transcript
Start by making yourself comfortable,
Either sitting or lying down.
Allow yourself to rest.
When you are ready,
Gently allow your eyes to close.
Let the eyelids soften.
Become aware of all the sounds around you and then gently turn your attention inside and bring your awareness to your breath.
Sensing and listening to the sound of each breath,
Noticing how your body moves,
How the chest rises and falls,
How the breath comes in and out,
Ebbs and flows in the body,
Just like the waves of the ocean as they come into the shore.
This time is for you,
For your health and happiness,
To connect with your inner self and to relax deeply,
To nourish,
Replenish and strengthen and to prepare consciously for the birth of your baby,
The birth of yourself as mother and father.
Begin to take a few deep yogic breaths in and out of your nose.
Listen to the sound of your breath through the back of the throat.
Feel the expansion of your belly,
Back and chest.
Notice the subtle effects of each breath in your body,
Mind.
These are the breaths you will take with each wave during the birth of your baby.
With each one you become more relaxed,
More centered,
More focused within.
Our breath is the true companion in life.
To breathe consciously is a gift we give to ourselves,
To life and to our babies.
And now gently allow your body to return to soft,
Gentle sleep breaths,
Where the body is hardly moving and only the lower chest is rising and falling.
In this state,
The perfect amount of oxygen and nourishment is being sent to every cell.
When the body is relaxed,
The breath becomes effortless.
When we allow our breath to be effortless,
Our bodies relax.
As I say,
The parts of your body simply allow your awareness to rest in those spaces.
There is nothing to do,
Just by sensing and being aware you can allow the body to relax,
To return to its natural blissful state in harmony with your baby.
Visualize and sense a golden light above the crown of your head and allow that light to flow down the body and into each space.
Moving gently down across your face,
Sensing your forehead,
Allowing it to soften,
To widen and expand.
Sense your cheeks,
Lips and jaw,
The throat and tongue,
Ears and scalp,
The back of your neck,
The front of your neck,
The whole head,
Neck,
Soft,
Warm,
Gently relaxed,
Filled with golden light.
Let your awareness move into your shoulders,
Down your upper arms,
Elbows,
Forearms,
To your palms and fingers resting in their natural curve.
Feeling your chest,
Softening the ribs,
The intercostal muscles in between the ribs,
Relaxing into the heart and lungs,
Moving and beating freely,
Relaxed and at ease in their natural rhythm.
Follow your awareness down your middle back and lower back,
Into your stomach,
All the internal organs,
Relaxing through and around the belly,
Your waist,
All the skin and muscles and ligaments around your baby resting in your womb.
Sense and relax into your hips,
From your sacrum down to your tailbone,
Around and through the pelvic floor muscles to the pubic bone.
Feel the whole of your pelvis and the whole of your belly softening and widening.
See inside your belly to your womb,
The uterus muscle remembering its three layers,
The outer layer gently squeezes,
The middle layer nourishes and replenishes,
The inner layer simply relaxes and opens.
See the cervix,
The neck and mouth of the womb.
If you are ready to birth then visualize the cervix softening,
Drawing up,
Becoming thinner and gently opening.
If that day of birth is a long way off then visualize your cervix sealed with the mucus plug supporting and protecting your baby.
Feel the tissues and fluids of the birth canal,
Your vaginas softening more and more with your awareness relaxing right through to the skin of the perineum,
From your crown to your fingers to your perineum filled with golden light.
Sense down the front thighs,
Back thighs,
Knees and shins,
Calves and heels,
Soles of the feet all the way to the toes,
Soft warm,
Gently relaxed.
Aware of your whole body,
Soft warm,
Gently relaxed,
Your whole body filled with golden light,
Continually pouring down gently out through the fingers and toes,
An infinite waterfall of golden light relaxing and washing through every cell in the body.
Bringing your awareness now to your physical heart,
See each pulsation of your heart,
This strong muscle as it pumps blood all through your body,
All through the intricate network of arteries and veins.
Follow the path of oxygen as it is pumped out of your heart through your chest,
Down your arms to your fingertips and all the way back again.
Follow it again down your belly,
Your legs to the tips of the toes and back up again through your body,
Home to the heart.
Follow the path of oxygen from your heart down to your womb,
Through the wall of your uterus,
Through the placenta and along the umbilical cord to your baby and your baby's heart.
See your baby's heart pulsing oxygen out through the whole of their body,
To the tips of their fingers and toes and back again.
Every drop of blood that passes through both of your hearts returns to be refreshed again with the breath,
Fresh air and life.
Your baby has been practicing breathing and is awaiting its first breath of pure air.
You know in the meantime your breath and your heartbeat nourish,
Soothe and feed your baby.
You know your awareness of your breath keeps you calm and centered,
Relaxed and strong.
You know also that whatever you feed yourself with physically,
Mentally and emotionally will not only feed you but also your baby and whatever you desire for yourself in life will also gift and serve not only you but also your baby.
Imagine your heart as a tree.
Your heart is a sacred tree.
Imagine each of the pathways above your heart as branches of a tree,
Below your heart as roots of the tree teeming with life.
The branches are threads of a web of life extending through your body and then out into the world.
The trunk is your core,
Your being,
Your central self.
From the core we dig roots,
The foundation of the tree.
Their pathways find the food,
Water and nourishment that support and give us substance.
From the core spring branches and at their tips are leaves.
They collect the sun and wind that make you grow.
They flower and fruit and fall upon the ground to grow again.
All that is expressed eventually returns.
Feel yourself as this tree and then gently stepping back for a moment and see this glorious tree in front of you.
This proud tree standing tall on a hill of lush green grass,
Walk up to this tree and see in front of it a jeweled altar,
An altar for devotion,
Prayer and gratitude.
A very beautiful magical table.
See its colours and size and gently kneel down in front of the altar as you make an offering from your open palms.
Offer something you are willing to give up,
Fear,
Doubt,
Worry or sadness and something you are willing to give of yourself,
Creativity,
Courage,
Faith or love.
Make this offering as a symbol as you bow with open palms to the tree and the altar.
We know that in order to gain anything or to grow in life we must also give something up.
Allowing and embracing both fear and love and knowing that in essence they are the same.
They come from stillness,
That which you really are.
Feel the deep longing of the soul within and feel the freedom within your body.
You are as free as this glorious tree from the deepest roots to the tips of its branches and leaves.
Your body is free as nature intended.
It is strong and open,
Grounded in the earth,
Gently stretching upwards to the sky,
Opening to the sun,
Branches swaying gently in the breeze.
You are that lone tree on that beautiful hill,
Continually growing in each moment.
Any fear or doubt can be gently blown away in the breeze as you grow deeper into the earth.
Reach wider with your branches and higher to the infinite sky,
Deeper,
Higher and wider,
Freer and freer in every moment.
Gently draw your awareness back to your breath.
The breath is the bridge between body and mind,
The inner and the outer.
Feeling yourself lying or sitting,
Knowing that you have everything you need to birth your baby inside of you.
Know that you can bring yourself back to this natural state anytime you choose.
Simply close your eyes and allow your awareness to move back down through the body.
Gently sense from the soles of your feet up to the tip of your nose and take a deeper breath in and up through the body,
Lifting your energy with your breath,
Slowly moving into the fingertips and toes,
Aware of subtle sensations through the body.
Gently smile and stretch and come back when you are ready.
The breath is the bridge between body and mind,
The inner and the outer.
