Welcome,
Friends.
In this meditation,
We'll repeat the traditional mantra,
So Hum,
While listening to the sound of the ocean.
In Sanskrit,
So Hum translates to,
I am that.
Just as a drop of sea spray rises from a wave and eventually returns to the ocean,
We too are part of the universe,
Arising from it and one day returning to the same source.
So let's begin by taking a comfortable seat,
Resting the hands comfortably in your lap and if it's okay,
Close your eyes or lower your gaze and begin to notice the natural rhythm of your breath.
Perhaps you picture yourself seated on a blanket or towel at the beach,
The sun shining and the wind blowing gently.
Allow the sound of the ocean to soothe you.
Let your breath guide you into stillness.
On your next inhale,
Silently repeat the word,
So,
And as you exhale,
Repeat the word,
Hum.
Inhale So,
Exhale Hum.
Inhale So,
Exhale Hum,
So Hum.
Continue with the mantra,
Letting your breath guide you into stillness and allowing the sound of the ocean to relax you and bring you peace.
I'll ring a bell when it's time to release the mantra.
Now take a slightly deeper breath in and as you exhale,
Gently release the mantra.
Come back to the space around you.
Notice the body,
The breath,
The quiet within.
Whenever you're ready,
Begin to bring small movements back to your body,
Perhaps wiggling your fingers and toes and gently open your eyes.
Thank you for sharing this practice.
Enjoy the rest of your day or evening.
Namaste.
