Bedtime with Mrs.

Honeybee Today we'll be exploring the world of cars.

It's not just a race.

We're talking about the piston cup.

I've been dreaming about it my whole life.

All you have to do is close your eyes,

Get cozy,

And listen to the sound of my voice.

Mrs.

Honeybee will be your guide.

Let's begin.

Cars,

Tires squeal across the racetrack as Lightning McQueen steers quickly by you.

You've been helping him practice for days and now the big race has finally arrived.

These past few weeks have been so fun and challenging,

Working and helping Lightning McQueen's pit crew.

You've changed his tires,

Replaced his seating,

And even waxed the whole car till it shined.

Lightning McQueen is ready to race.

I'm a race car!

Lightning McQueen takes his place at the starting line amongst all the other cars.

His red shine stands out as the sun reflects off of his hood.

The crowd is on their feet and the cars are all lined up at the starting line.

Three,

Two,

One,

And they're off.

In unison,

The cars all lurch off the starting line and begin racing down the track.

All the cars are very close together and you can't tell who's in first place.

You jump up and down,

Waving your hands over your head as you watch the bright red car focus on winning his race.

Lightning is so fast that he just looks like a red blur.

The sun makes Lightning's red paint glow.

The race is close and Lightning looks like he's in fourth or fifth place.

As Lightning McQueen is racing around the track again,

One of his tires makes a loud pop.

Uh oh,

He's going to need to make a pit stop.

But you're not nervous.

You and Lightning have been practicing so much that you're sure you can help him out.

He'll be back on the racetrack in no time.

I need my tire changed,

Please.

Lightning McQueen says as he pulls up in front of you.

The race car looks a little tired because of how fast he's been driving,

But he's still grinning excitedly.

Speed.

I am speed.

Lightning can't wait to win the race and you're going to help him get there.

You give Lightning a big thumbs up and then quickly get to work.

The pop tire is warm and a little rough under your fingers as you loosen the shiny screws keeping the tire in place.

You move as quickly as you can,

Easing the tire off Lightning and letting it fall to the side.

It falls onto the ground with a little thud.

Then you pull out a brand new tire and begin to put it in its place.

The new screws are a little harder to tighten,

But you muscle through it.

Lightning needs your help after all.

You're so good at this,

Says Lightning McQueen as you finish up.

He revs his engine and rolls back and forth,

Making sure his tire is perfectly in place.

I'm so glad I have you here to help me.

You smile back at Lightning.

You're glad to be here too.

You can't believe you're seeing this race with your own eyes.

Thanks again,

Says Lightning,

Before the red car glides back out onto the road.

You hold your breath as you watch the race.

Lightning is a little behind the other cars because he needed to change his tire.

He slowly re-enters the track and picks up speed.

The pit crew around you are all staring up at the big screen,

Watching on video as Lightning races around the track.

The pit crew gathers around and one engineer says,

Let's be ready for anything.

If Lightning needs us,

We'll be there.

Now let's cheer on our race car.

The pit crew cheers and high fives as they turn back to watch the big screen.

Can he catch up with everyone else?

They are all so fast.

Little by little,

Lightning McQueen drives faster and faster.

His brand new tire is really helping him speed along.

Suddenly,

He bursts out in front of the other cars and he moves from fifth place to fourth.

Then around another corner,

He passes the car in third place.

Lightning speeds up and is now in second.

He's traveling so fast.

You look up at the leaderboard and it says,

Final Lap.

You cheer for Lightning as he makes his move around the final turn.

He speeds on the inside of his opponent and nudges him out.

The final stretch.

He goes as fast as he can and closes his eyes as the final moment he sticks his nose forward just in time for him to make it across the finish line.

Lightning did it.

He won the race.

You start to cheer loudly while jumping up and down.

The pit crew hugs you and each other.

Everyone is so proud of you.

As Lightning goes to accept the big gold trophy,

He points right at you.

It wasn't just my driving that won this race,

He says.

My best friend helped me get first place by changing my tire.

The crowd continues to cheer as you smile happily.

You'll never forget this exciting race and how you were able to help Lightning McQueen win the trophy.

Always remember that Mrs.

Honeybee believes in you.

You are special and you are loved.

I can't wait to see you again.
