Progressive piano driven movements that build the song up and then carefully take it back down. Sounds of the upright bass and the drums assist with painting a curious musical landscape. Moments of full sound and moments of no sound are designed to capture the listener's mindful attention.

Thank you for joining us at Mindful Beats,

A place where the love of music is used as a tool to help us enter into a time of relaxation and mindfulness.

When you are ready,

Gently closing your eyes.

Bring awareness to the pressure of your body through the surfaces you are sitting on.

Notice the points of contact.

Become aware of the sensations of pressure in your body.

Don't judge them,

Just acknowledge and experience them.

Listening to the beat of the drums,

Become aware of the repetitive pattern.

We will use this pattern to pace out our breathing,

Noticing the sensation of the air going in and out of your lungs.

I invite you to join me in focusing on deep breathing to start this session.

Breathing in to the count of four and breathing out to the count of four.

Breathing with me.

In.

Out.

In.

Out.

In.

Out.

In.

Out.

Allow your breathing to return to its natural rhythm.

The body does this automatically,

Returning to a state of rest,

Of relaxation.

Bringing your attention to the sounds of the piano,

You may choose to bring all of your focus onto this instrument,

Perhaps noticing the varying tones,

The high notes,

The low notes.

Being aware of the slight spaces left for the chords to linger,

Intentionally focusing your attention on these things.

Other sounds and instruments will be introduced.

In this moment,

Noticing the sounds come and go as the texture of the song builds,

Then returning your attention to listening to the sounds of the piano.

Keeping your attention anchored on its various sounds.

I hope you can enjoy this time of focus and space.

And if your mind has wandered to other thoughts,

This is not a problem and is normal.

Acknowledge the thought and then gently bring your focus back to the sound of the piano or the song.

Just bringing your attention back to the present moment,

Back into mindfulness.

Continue to anchor your awareness onto the sounds of the song.

If unhelpful thoughts arise,

Simply letting them go.

All needs not remain unhelpful.

Slowly reorientate yourself to the environment around you.

Thank you for using mindful beats.

We hope to explore the power of mindfulness and music with you again soon.

Focusing the music worked well to relax and soothe but focusing on the breath with the music seems hard.

Let the chatter of the mind play, laugh and dance over the notes bringing you into awareness. My mind is able to with notes and nothing else, thank you 🙏

Beautifully composed. The music is what I hear with the sound of your voice secondary. Namaste ☮️💟☀️

I enjoy usng music to settle my mind, but sometimes my mind wanders too much. This track helps me focus on the music better than I can on my own. Thank you.

Great piano playing: I really like the tempo. The drums, as always, are perfect. And the bass and other instruments add depth. Another great selection that I will return to. I only wish the meditations, the music itself, were longer. Could you make some longer pieces, like 20 minutes or more?

Absolutely wonderful. This transported me to parts unknown and unnamed. There was never any question of mind wandering; I was taken into the music and there was no room for anything else. As a lifelong pianist, I appreciated the piano getting the starring role, as it so seldom happens except for with ambient music recordings by piano-dominant musicians such as George Winston and David Lanz (both of whom I adore, don't get me wrong - Lanz's "Cristofori's Dream" has been a favorite album of mine since I first heard it and bought the cassette tape.) I think some may quibble that the music drowns out the guidance towards the middle. I think that is absolutely the way it should have been. Though I had no cluttering thoughts, many might, and the fo us was to be on the piano, not the voice. Spoken words were not intrusive and did not generate verbal thoughts in me, which frankly surprised me - but in a pleasant way. Bookmarked and downloaded this. Thank you SO much for sharing your gifts with us. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I see the light within you. 🤲🏻❤️🤲🏻
