In this meditation, you will to overcome anxiety during an exam. Nothing is worse than spending hours preparing for an exam just to blow it during the exam by being stressed. Prevent that from happening by walking in prepared to combat it.

Welcome to the Mindful About Life series of meditations.

You should probably start off seated the same way you'll be seated during the exam.

Let's start with a deep breath in and let it go.

I want to start by saying that if stress is getting in the way of you living your life,

You might want to see a doctor.

And if you're already seeing a medical professional,

You might want to let her or him know about these meditations.

Another deep breath and this time I want you to watch your breath as it comes in and as it goes out.

Deep breath in and let it go.

I'm making a series of these meditations so you have many tools in your tool kit ready for whatever comes at you during the exam.

You'll be ready for anything.

This time we're going to take a deep breath and I want you to notice where do you notice the breath?

At your nose,

Your chest,

As your belly expands.

Deep breath in and let it go.

And the last thing before we start our practice today is that it's best if you practice this many times before the exam.

You'll be so ready that during the exam you're ready for anything.

And today I want you to picture yourself sitting in the exam and you've done the first few questions and they're getting harder and you're getting worried.

Do a few more questions and you're getting very very stressed and very anxious about the exam.

And what you're going to do is a deep breath in and let it go.

You're going to get control of your stress and you're not going to let it spiral out of control.

Let's try that again.

Picture yourself sitting in the exam room.

Picture in your mind's eye looking around and seeing the other students heads down working on the exam.

If you look up at the front of the room you'll see a whiteboard and your teacher and the proctor.

Perhaps they wrote on the board what time the test is over.

You look down at your desk and you see the questions in the exam booklet,

Your pens and pencils.

And you feel your anxiety rising.

You read a few more questions and you're getting worried because you don't know the material well enough and your anxiety gets even more.

And you're thinking that you spent so much time studying for this exam.

Why is this happening to you?

You're getting even more stressed.

And now deep breath in and let it go.

And your stress goes down just a little bit.

Another deep breath in and let it go.

And you get a little bit of a better handle on your stress.

And that's how you're going to make it through the exam.

And every time you get stressed you're going to let go of it a little bit at a time.

Just a nice deep breath in and letting it go.

And now you're ready to show them how much you know about this material.

And how,

And you'll do this during the exam as well.

Give yourself a little hug and think to yourself,

I love me.

I appreciate me for the hard work of getting ready for this exam.

And I appreciate me for being ready with both the knowledge to do well on this test and the mindset to do well.

And now,
