Welcome to the Mindful About Work series of meditations.

Let's start with a deep breath in,

And let it go.

I'm creating a series of meditations so you have many tools in your toolkit prepared for all different situations at work where you might get stressed.

Another deep breath,

And this time,

Watch the breath coming in and going out.

Deep breath in,

And let it go.

I must start all of these meditations by saying that if stress is getting in the way of living your life,

You might want to see a doctor.

And if you are seeing a doctor,

You might want to let her or him know about these meditations.

We're going to take a deep breath again,

And this time I want you to notice,

Where do you notice the breath?

At your nose,

As your chest expands,

As your belly rises.

Deep breath in,

And let it go.

This meditation is about procrastination,

And the good news is,

Is that many studies have shown that mindfulness lowers procrastination,

So you're already well on your way.

And I want you to picture yourself seated at your workstation,

Whether it be at home on your laptop,

At work in a cubicle or an office,

Or wherever you usually do your work.

And picture yourself in the situation where you're procrastinating.

And what I want you to do is I want you to be mindful of your thoughts.

What thoughts are going through your mind as you are procrastinating?

This might be a trick question because you're probably daydreaming while you're procrastinating and not really paying attention to your thoughts.

And therein lies the problem,

Doesn't it?

So again,

Picture yourself seated at your workstation,

Procrastinating,

And what thoughts are you going through your head?

And now,

To break that procrastination and get back to work,

You're going to take a deep breath in,

And let it go.

And picture yourself putting your fingers on your keyboard,

And getting back to work,

Feeling in the field that need to get filled in,

Writing the word document that needs to get written.

Let's try that again.

Deep breath in,

And let it go.

Picture yourself at your workstation,

Whether it be at home,

Or at the office,

Or at Starbucks.

Imagine you have a report due in three hours,

And it's only about one hour of work,

And you're sitting there procrastinating.

What are you doing while you're procrastinating?

Are you looking at Facebook?

Are you looking out the window?

What thoughts are going through your head?

And now,

Take a deep breath in,

And let it go.

And picture yourself putting your fingers on the keyboard,

And getting back to work.

And that's how you break your procrastination.

Take a deep breath,

And you put your fingers on the keyboard,

And you get back to work.

And now,

Take a deep breath in,

And let it go,

And let it go,

And get back to work.

And now,

Give yourself a little hug,

And say,

I love me.

I so appreciate the hard work that I do.

I so appreciate that I'm trying to work better and smarter,

Not necessarily harder.

And now,

Have a great day at work.
