Meditation is grounding for everyone and for all body types.
In Ayurveda,
India's ancient system of medicine,
It is said that meditation helps calm our mind and bring our body back into balance,
Which brings about a sense of feeling grounded.
To be grounded is to be well balanced while also having a good understanding of what is really important in life.
To stay grounded,
We must commit to a regular meditation practice as it is the only way to stay connected to who we really are while calming the mind and balancing the body.
Here is a sampling of a grounding meditation you can do at any time,
Anywhere,
Preferably seated in a distraction-free environment.
Be sure to put your electronic devices on silent or take them out of the space completely.
As emissions from electronics can interfere with us feeling grounded.
It is also good practice to remove devices while meditating,
Sleeping,
And any time you can do without.
Close your eyes,
Take a few deep breaths in and out.
Allow your head,
Neck,
And shoulders to fall down toward the ground.
Feel yourself supported either through your feet or under your bottom if you're seated on the ground.
Bring your awareness to the space between your eyebrows.
Allow your gaze to look up toward your third eye while having your eyes closed.
To relax your jaw,
Touch the tip of your tongue to a fire point,
The ridge behind the two upper front teeth.
This acts as if plugging a lamp into a light socket.
The energy of the body becomes centered,
Grounded.
Feel into your body here.
Begin the silent repetition of the mantra,
So Hum.
This mantra translates to I am,
Which has no particular meaning and helps to quiet down the mind.
As you repeat the mantra silently to yourself,
Notice your mind calm down and your body become restful.
If you drift away to other thoughts or sounds around you,
Just come back to the mantra,
I will watch the time.
You you you you you you stop the repetition of the mantra continue to sit quietly with your eyes closed you resting in awareness resting and being just be you now let's plant the seeds of our intentions for living just repeat them silently after I say them joyful energetic body loving compassionate heart reflective alert mind you and the lightness of being feel into your body notice the ground beneath you and around you feel yourself supported by Mother Earth as if she were holding you in the palm of her hand feel yourself rooted and anchored you are safe you are protected set an intention today to do something as a gift to Mother Earth as a way of giving back to she that gives you so much say a prayer for her asking for what you believe Mother Earth needs right now throughout the day know that Mother Earth is a force like no other she will always survive even though we humans may outdo ourselves honor and serve Mother Earth in any way you can it is our purpose to give back to her and we can trust our deeds will have a ripple effect bring your hands together at heart center and if it's comfortable for you bring your fingertips to your forehead and bow hands back to heart center float your eyes open namaste
