In today's meditation,
We will be focusing on mindfulness.
I'd like you to find a comfortable seat,
Remembering that the only rule in meditation is to be comfortable.
You can be on the floor,
In a chair,
Or lying down if that's more suitable for you.
Gently close your eyes.
Take a nice long inhale through the nose and then exhale out through the mouth with a sigh,
Releasing anything and everything you could be carrying around with you.
Allow your head,
Neck,
And shoulders to relax down toward the ground.
Relax your jaw by bringing the tip of your tongue to fire point,
The ridge behind the two upper front teeth.
Be present to how your body feels in this moment.
Mindfulness,
Also known as practicing present moment awareness,
Allows us to enjoy life more fully by calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings,
Thoughts,
And bodily sensations without judgment.
When we experience stress,
We can bring our awareness to our breath to anchor us to the present moment.
When we have thoughts about the past,
We may feel depressed.
When we focus on the future,
We may feel anxious.
But when we have our attention in the present,
We connect to our authentic nature,
Which is stillness and bliss.
We will be practicing our meditation today using the mantra,
It's always now.
Say the mantra silently to yourself and when you find yourself drifting away to other thoughts in your mind or sensations in your body or other noises in the environment,
Just come back easily,
Effortlessly to the mantra,
It's always now.
Letting go of any and all expectations that you have for your meditation,
Trust we always get exactly what we need and I will watch the time so that you can enjoy.
You you you you you stop the repetition of the mantra and just continue to rest easily with your eyes closed.
Just be.
Taking a couple of moments at the end of meditation allows the stillness and silence that we've cultivated to come out with us into our day.
Throughout the day,
Remember the mantra,
It's always now.
For it is always only right now and right now and right now.
