Welcome to this outdoor walking meditation.
Make sure you're dressed appropriately for outdoors so that you're comfortable.
Begin by standing still.
Feel the ground beneath your feet,
Solid,
Steady,
Supporting you.
Now,
Take a slow,
Deep breath in and gently breathe out.
Let your shoulders soften.
Now,
Begin to walk slowly.
There's no destination,
No need to rush.
Just gentle walking.
Notice the rhythm of your breath.
If your mind wanders,
And it will,
Gently bring it back to just noticing your breath.
Now,
Expand your awareness slightly.
Notice the air around you,
Its temperature,
How it touches your skin.
Is it cool,
Warm,
Just right?
Keep noticing this for the next one minute.
Now,
Gently open your senses to sound.
What can you hear?
Perhaps birds,
Rustling leaves,
Maybe distant voices,
Or the hum of life around you.
Let the sounds come and go without needing to identify them.
Just listening.
Keep noticing this for the next minute.
Now,
Bring your attention to what you can see.
Maybe you're walking somewhere where you can see trees,
Maybe even birds.
Maybe you're walking in the city,
And you see people going about their day.
Just notice your surroundings,
Notice what you can see.
You can find beauty anywhere.
Notice colors,
Shapes,
Movement,
The way the light falls on surfaces,
How shadows shift,
How the world is constantly changing.
Keep noticing for the next minute.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Is it firm,
Soft,
Uneven?
Let each step connect you to the present moment.
Continue to do this for the next one minute.
Now,
Take in the space around you as a whole,
Not just one thing,
But the entire scene.
You are not separate from it.
You are within it,
Moving through it,
Part of it.
If your mind begins to drift,
Gently return to something outside of you,
A sound,
A color,
A breeze.
Let the world anchor you in the present moment.
Continue to do this for the next minute.
Now,
Bring a sense of gratitude into your steps.
Notice how your body feels.
Notice your breath.
Feel the full experience of walking,
Body,
Breath,
And awareness moving together.
As we finish out this short walking meditation,
Take a moment to thank your body for all that it does every day.
Take this gratitude with you for the rest of your day.
You can continue on as long or as short as you want.
Thanks for walking with me today.
