Looks at how we project onto others and how we can change this into a peaceful perception. This exercise can help us to forgive and let go of the past pain and see people with new eyes. The world is a mirror to what is in our minds. As we learn to change our minds the world we see changes to reflect it.

Changing your perception and finding peace.

This is a short exercise you can do any time you feel threatened or disturbed by others or a particular situation.

In this exercise you'll be asked at one point to welcome the help that is ever present for all people all the time,

But which we often forget is there.

This help may be known by many names such as Higher Self,

Spirit,

The Goddess,

Soul,

Jesus,

God,

Holy Spirit.

I will use the term Spirit,

But please feel free to use whatever name or term you feel most comfortable with.

This symbol represents a presence that is all wise and loving,

With absolutely no judgement of you.

It simply seeks to correct your errors of thinking and return to your memory the beauty of who you really are.

This presence sees what we call sins as merely nightmares which it seeks to awaken us from.

Before we begin we'll do some relaxation.

So please get comfortable.

You can sit up or if you're feeling quite awake you can lie down.

Take a couple of slow deep breaths.

And now when you next breathe in tense both your legs and as you breathe out release the tension in the legs.

When you breathe in again tense the buttocks and as you breathe out release the tension.

And now we'll do the same with the stomach.

Tense as you breathe in and then release.

Now tense the arms and make fists of the hands as you breathe in and then release.

Breathe in and squeeze the shoulder blades together and then release.

See if your neck is relaxed and rotate the head if necessary.

Lastly tense the face,

Make a face as you breathe in and then let go of the tension.

Finally count backwards from 20 to 1 feeling yourself becoming more relaxed as you count.

For us to be healed we need to be able to accept help from outside ourselves.

Our part is to become aware of our pain that we've created it and be willing to let it go.

But the final healing comes from Spirit.

So send out a prayer now to Spirit in which you welcome and invite its presence to be with you in this exercise.

This help is always there but needs your invitation as it can never act against your free will.

It must be invited,

Made welcome.

If it helps you can visualise the presence of Spirit as a light shining upon you or as a felt presence that surrounds you.

Or perhaps some being whose hand you can hold.

Either think now of someone you are having a problem with in your life or you could ask Spirit to show you a person where forgiveness is needed.

Someone with whom you have some unresolved issues where you lose your peace.

You can think of that last difficult situation with them.

As this person comes into your awareness you'll notice in your body that you're storing in a certain place some tension,

Some discomfort that accompanies this experience.

Become aware of that area without trying to change it.

Forget the person now and focus more on that area of the body where you feel the discomfort.

Ask Spirit to give you a picture,

A symbol for that area of the body.

Don't try and create one but let one form in your mind's eye,

Accepting whatever comes.

It may appear a little ugly to you but again just accept it.

Do you want to keep this symbol or would you rather it be healed,

Transmuted?

It may be something you've had for a long time.

You perhaps become a little used to it and it may seem difficult to let it go.

Just look at the symbol and ask yourself is it time for it to be healed?

Is it time to leave?

It cannot be healed without your permission but Spirit will joyously come if it's truly invited.

If you do want it healed,

Ask Spirit to give you a second symbol,

A symbol that would stand for its healing,

For its transmutation.

And let that new symbol start to appear and grow in front of you.

Don't try and create it,

Just observe it coming.

This is a symbol of what it will be like for you once the pain has been released.

What does this new symbol look like?

Ask yourself,

Do you want this symbol to replace the old one or would you prefer to hold on to the old one because you're not quite ready yet?

Just be honest with yourself.

See the person that you've had a problem with in front of you.

This person is your teacher.

You could not be upset with this person unless they mirrored some unhealed and unforgiven part of yourself.

Otherwise you'd simply have compassion for their behaviour.

You can learn much from them.

Perhaps you've never committed their sort of behaviour in life,

But perhaps you've thought about doing it.

If you can recognise that person is your teacher,

Then offer this second symbol as a gift to them.

See them becoming happy on receiving it.

Perhaps you have something to say to them,

Maybe what you've learnt by being with them.

And perhaps they have something to say to you.

So spend a little time together,

Conversing with each other.

Try and recognise that it's your similarities that have been mirrored back to you that was causing you the pain.

How alike you two really are,

Even though you may express your behaviour quite different from them.

When you're ready,

Thank the person who has been with you.

When you're ready,

Thank the person for the lessons that you've learnt.

When you feel ready,

Bring your awareness back into the room and open your eyes.
