Breaking unconscious agreements that are controlling your life,
Let me ask you something.
What if I told you that you've been living your entire life according to contracts that you never actually agreed to?
Contracts you never read,
Contracts you never consciously signed.
And yet,
Somehow you spent years following their rules.
Now,
I'm not talking about legal contracts here,
Obviously.
I'm talking about invisible agreements you've made with yourself,
Energetically,
Especially,
And emotionally.
The rules you've accepted about love,
Money,
Success,
Relationships,
Your worth,
And what you allowed to have in this life.
And here's the interesting part.
Most of these contracts weren't even written necessarily by you.
They were written by your upbringing,
Your experiences,
Your environment,
The people around you,
And sometimes by the things that hurt you.
And today,
We're going to do something about that.
We're going to find those contracts,
Read the fine print,
And decide which ones we're no longer willing to live by.
And then we're going to rewrite them.
Just because you've been living by a certain rule your entire life doesn't mean you have to keep living by it.
Okay,
Part one,
The contracts you never signed.
I want you to think about your childhood for a moment.
What did you learn about money?
Maybe you grew up hearing things like,
Money doesn't grow on trees,
You have to work hard for everything,
Rich people are greedy,
We can't afford that.
And maybe nobody even sat down with you and said,
Here is your belief system about money.
But you absorbed it anyway.
And somewhere along the way,
You unconsciously signed a contract that said,
Money is difficult to make.
Or maybe I have to struggle to be successful.
And now,
As an adult,
Even when opportunities come your way,
You might feel uncomfortable when things seem too easy.
Overlook yourself or overwork yourself.
You might feel guilty when you're not being productive.
That one's mine.
You might even believe that if you're not struggling,
You're just not trying hard enough.
Who decided that?
Who wrote that rule?
And more importantly.
Why are you still following it?
Talk about love.
Maybe you grew up in an environment where love felt conditional.
You received attention when you behaved a certain way.
You were praised when you were helpful.
You learned to keep the peace because conflict felt uncomfortable or unsafe.
And somewhere along the way,
You signed another contract.
To be loved,
I have to make everyone happy or my needs come second.
And now you find yourself in a relationship where you're constantly giving,
Constantly compromising,
Constantly worrying about disappointing someone.
Necessarily because that's what you want.
Because somewhere deep inside there's an old agreement telling you that's what love requires.
And here's another one.
Maybe you experience rejection.
Maybe someone left you.
Maybe you were criticized,
Embarrassed,
Or made to feel like you weren't good enough.
And you created a contract that said,
If people really get to know me,
They'll reject me.
So now you hold back.
Don't fully express yourself.
Avoid opportunities.
You stay quiet.
You have something to say.
And you might tell yourself,
Well,
That's just my personality.
That is it.
Or is it a contract that you made a long time ago that you never questioned?
Think about that.
Okay,
So how your contracts create your reality.
Here's where this gets interesting.
Really interesting.
When you believe something strongly enough,
You can begin making decisions that support that belief.
Let's say just,
You know,
Your contract is people always leave me.
You might enter a relationship expecting abandonment.
You might become overly protective,
Distant,
Suspicious,
Or afraid of getting close.
And those behaviors can affect the relationships you're trying so hard to protect.
Or maybe your contract says,
I'm not good enough to be successful.
So you don't apply for opportunity.
You don't start the business.
You don't put yourself out there.
And then when nothing changes,
You tell yourself,
See.
I knew I couldn't do it.
The problem wasn't necessarily your ability,
It was the agreement you were living by.
In psychology.
We sometimes talk about confirmation bias.
It's our tendency to notice and remember information that supports what we already believe.
So if you believe you're unlucky,
You may pay more attention to everything that goes wrong.
If you believe nobody supports you,
You might overlook the people who actually do.
And if you believe you don't deserve good things,
You may struggle to recognize or accept them.
When they arrive.
Now,
From a spiritual perspective,
I like to think of these contracts as energy and intention.
Where repeatedly essentially bringing into our lives,
You know,
Just continuously bringing this energy and this intention.
And that,
Of course,
Strengthens the contract.
Not because every difficult thing that happens is something we attracted.
Absolutely not.
But because our beliefs influence what we focus on,
What we tolerate,
What we pursue.
And what we allow ourselves to receive.
And when you change the agreement,
Begin to change the choices available to you.
That's where your power comes back.
Who wrote your contracts?
Now,
I want you to ask yourself something.
Who gave you permission to believe these things about yourself?
Who decided you weren't good enough?
Who decided you had to suffer to deserve success?
Who decided you had to sacrifice yourself to be loved?
Who decided that you were too old,
Too young,
Too inexperienced,
Too emotional,
Too sensitive,
Or not capable enough?
Was it your parents?
Teacher.
An ex-partner,
Maybe it was society.
A painful experience?
Or was it something you decided about yourself during a moment when you didn't know any?
Because here is what I want you to understand.
Something can feel true simply because it's familiar.
You've repeated it so many times that it feels like a fact.
Familiarity is not proof.
And an agreement that helped you survive one chapter of your life might be completely inappropriate for the chapter you're living now.
Maybe keeping everyone happy helped you avoid conflict as a child,
But now it's preventing you from setting healthy boundaries.
Maybe believing you had to work consistently helped you achieve something important,
But now it's preventing you from enjoying your life.
Maybe not trusting people protected you after being hurt.
Now it's keeping you disconnected from the relationships you actually want.
And I want you to consider this.
What if the contract that once protected you is now the very thing holding you back.
You can appreciate why you developed a belief without allowing it to control your future.
You can understand where it came from without continuing.
Without continuing to obey it.
And you can decide that the rules are changing.
Starting today.
Contract audit.
Okay.
Now we're gonna get practical,
My favorite part.
I want you to grab a pen and a piece of paper.
You can pause this video if you need to,
Okay?
Whatever you need to do.
At the top of your paper,
I want you to write my unconscious contracts.
Now,
I'm gonna give you a few sentences and I want you to complete them.
Don't overthink your answers.
Don't write what you think you're supposed to believe,
Okay?
Write what you actually believe.
And don't judge,
Please.
Are you ready?
Let's begin.
Money is what comes up.
Money's difficult,
Money's stressful,
Money's freedom,
Money's never enough.
Okay,
The next one.
To be successful,
I have to work consistently,
Sacrifice everything,
Prove myself,
Be perfect.
To be loved,
I have to keep everyone happy.
Be attractive,
Never disappoint anyone,
Put everyone else first.
Now this one.
I am not allowed to make mistakes,
Say no,
Be selfish,
Rest,
Express anger,
Disappoint people.
And finally,
I will never be able to.
So what did you write?
Maybe it was something about money,
Maybe it's about a relationship,
Maybe it's about your body,
Your career or your future.
Now I want you to look at your answers and I want you to notice which ones you feel something.
Which ones feel the most uncomfortable?
Which ones make you think,
Wow,
I actually believe that?
That's the contract I want you to work with today,
Okay?
You don't need to change everything at once.
Just choose one.
Trust yourself.
Terminating the old contract.
Okay so now we're going to do something little different.
I want you to take a fresh piece of paper and at the top you write the Contract Termination Notice.
Underneath that,
You're going to write,
I hereby terminate my agreement with the belief that,
I'll repeat it,
I hereby terminate my agreement with the belief that,
And then finish the sentence.
For example,
I hereby terminate my agreement with the belief that I have to struggle to deserve success.
Or,
I hereby terminate my agreement with the belief that I'm responsible for everyone else's happiness.
Or,
I hereby terminate my agreement with the belief that I am not good enough.
Got it?
Okay.
Now,
Underneath,
I want you to write,
Contract was created when,
And think about where it came from.
Maybe it was something you learned growing up.
Maybe it came from a relationship.
So essentially,
The root,
Right?
Maybe it came from an experience that changed how you saw yourself.
Next,
You're going to write.
This contract has cost me.
I know we're going deep.
Okay,
I'm going to repeat it.
Cost me,
And I need you to be really honest,
Okay?
It could have cost you something like peace.
Opportunities,
Confidence,
Maybe a relationship,
Time,
Freedom.
Now here is the important part.
At the bottom of the paper,
You're going to write,
I no longer agree to these terms.
I no longer agree to these.
Terms.
And once you do this,
You are literally going to sign your name as if you are signing a contract.
Yes,
You're actually going to sign it.
Because we're making this symbolic.
Okay,
We're taking something that's been invisible and bringing it into the physical world.
Now I want you to look at that paper.
Read your old contract one last time.
And when you're ready.
You to even read it out loud if you have to sometimes that does help okay tear it up burn it whatever it is you are breaking it you are done with it rip it into pieces as you do i want you to say I release this agreement.
I release the limitations.
I've accepted it as truth.
I honour this experience.
That created this belief,
But I no longer choose to live by it.
This contract is terminated.
" And of course you can do your own version of that.
You can say your own words.
You can do whatever makes you feel alive because you don't have to exactly repeat the words that I'm saying.
The point is that you are declaring this for yourself and you're feeling the emotions within your body.
And then when you're done,
I want you to throw the pieces away.
Now,
Obviously tearing up a piece of paper doesn't automatically erase years of conditioning.
I get that.
But this is not the point,
Okay?
The point is that you're making a conscious decision to stop treating this belief as an unequivocal,
Unequivocal?
Unquestionable rule.
Unquestionable rule.
Making the moment when you decided things could be different.
Write your new contract.
OK,
So now we're not finished,
OK?
Because whenever we let go of an old belief,
It's important to decide what we're choosing instead.
So again,
Grab another piece of paper.
At the top,
You're going to write my new contract with myself.
This is the agreement you're choosing to live by moving forward.
And I want you to make it obviously realistic.
Don't just write something that sounds beautiful.
Write something you can actually begin to believe and practice.
For example,
The old contract,
I have to struggle to be successful.
The new contract,
I'm allowed to experience success without constant suffering.
An old contract could have been,
I have to keep everyone happy.
The new contract can be,
I can care about other people without taking responsibility for all their emotions.
Another example,
The old contract,
I always get rejected.
New contract.
Rejection is an experience,
Not a definition of my work.
Hold contract.
I'm not confident enough.
New contract.
I can take action even when I feel uncertain.
See the difference?
We're not pretending that everything is suddenly perfect.
We're choosing a healthier rule to guide our decisions.
Now write your own.
From this day forward,
I choose to believe.
Complete the sentence.
From this day forward,
I choose to believe.
Maybe it's to give myself permission to,
What,
Rest,
Be successful,
Receive help.
Love,
Make mistakes,
Be seen,
Have boundaries,
Change your mind.
Stop proving yourself.
Whatever it is,
Write it down.
And then finally,
I want you to write.
I commit to honoring this new agreement.
Bye.
And then you need to choose one action.
Not ten,
One,
Okay?
I commit.
To honoring this new agreement,
Why?
And remember,
This is something that you can actually do within the next 24 hours because the new contract doesn't become meaningful just because you wrote it down.
It becomes meaningful when you start living differently.
Make the new contract real.
Let's say your new contract is,
I no longer need to please everyone.
Well,
Maybe tomorrow you say no to something you don't want to do.
Maybe you stop apologizing for having a reasonable boundary.
Maybe you express an opinion without immediately worrying about whether someone agrees with you.
Or maybe your new contract is,
I deserve opportunities even when I'm still learning.
So tomorrow you apply for something,
You send an email,
You start a project,
You do the thing you've been postponing because you didn't feel ready.
Every action becomes evidence that the old rule is no longer the only rule available to you.
And you might find that the old contract tries to come back.
Of course it will.
You've been practicing it for years.
So when that happens,
Please don't judge yourself.
Just notice it.
You might say,
Oh,
Okay,
That's my old contract talking,
And then ask,
What does my new contract say?
What would I choose if I were living by my new agreement?
That's how change begins.
Not through one perfect moment,
But through repeated decisions that support the person you're becoming.
You get to change the terms.
Okay,
So before we finish,
I want to leave you with one final thought.
Imagine how many decisions you've made throughout your life based on rules you've never consciously chose.
How many opportunities you avoided?
How many times you made yourself smaller?
How many times you sacrificed your peace,
Ignored your needs,
Questioned your worth.
All because somewhere along the way you accepted an agreement about who you were supposed to be.
Here's the beautiful thing.
You are allowed to change the terms.
You are allowed to outgrow beliefs.
You are allowed to question what you were taught.
You are allowed to decide that something that used to be true for you is no longer the truth you want to live by.
And you don't need anyone else's permission.
Keep your new contract somewhere where you can see it.
Read it.
Practice it.
And when you catch yourself slipping into an old pattern,
Remember that you have a choice.
You don't have to keep signing the same agreement over and over again.
You can write a new one.
You can begin honoring it today.
You didn't consciously sign every contract you've been living by.
But you can consciously decide which ones you're willing to keep.
All right,
Guys.
Well,
Thank you for joining me today for this workshop,
And remember,
The old contracts end when you stop agreeing to its terms.
And the new life begins when you start living by your own.
Have a magical day.
