From time to time,
We tend to over give,
Overextend,
And can take on other people's pain and suffering.
If you're in this line of work,
You most likely care very deeply about others,
Which leads us to forgetting about our own sacred boundaries.
Because of this,
We can feel depleted,
Exhausted,
Stressed,
And experience compassion fatigue,
Ultimately leading to burnout.
This short visualization meditation is a powerful tool that can help you preserve your energy and honor and remember your boundaries.
This tool has helped me in a variety of situations,
From meeting with clients one-on-one,
To facilitating a large group,
And even in my daily life.
As you practice this tool more and more,
It will get easier and easier over time to tap into this empowered state of being.
Overall,
Practicing this will help you feel more prepared going into situations and staying energized and authentic to your being.
Ultimately,
You are practicing radical self-love and self-respect as you care for others.
Before we begin,
Remember there's no right or wrong way to do this.
I encourage you to make this practice your own.
To start,
Find a quiet space to get comfortable.
You can be seated or lying down.
Take a moment here to move any part of your body that needs to get more comfortable.
Then settle into a soft place of stillness.
If you're able to,
Close your eyes and begin to focus on your breathing.
Find the natural rhythm of your breath.
Not forcing anything,
Simply breathing the way your body wants to breathe in this moment.
Now take a moment to tap into the feeling of gratitude.
You may want to focus on your heart center as you do so.
What are some simple basic things that you are grateful for in this moment?
Maybe you are grateful for simply breathing.
Maybe for your heart that keeps you alive,
For your entire body that holds you,
For loved ones that love you unconditionally.
What are you grateful for?
Now allow this feeling of appreciation and love to run through your veins and touch every inch of your body.
Staying in this space of high vibration,
Imagine a stream of golden light either coming in from the base of your spine,
Mother Earth's grounding energy,
Or from the crown of your head,
An energizing cosmic life force.
Or maybe from both sources.
See these energies meet at your heart.
From the heart,
Allowing this light energy to expand and grow in all directions.
Radiating out throughout every inch of your body.
And then letting that energy shine outside of your body,
Maybe a foot or two in front of you,
Behind you,
Below you,
And above you.
Allowing this loving light to embrace and cocoon all of you.
In this space,
Feel unconditional love,
Feel joy,
Feel bliss,
Feel empowered,
Feel strong.
The sacred space is filled with your life force.
You have everything you need here.
See how there is a protective,
Reflective outer shell.
There's nothing that can penetrate the shield of light.
No matter who you're with,
No matter what is said,
No matter what you see,
Your light shines so bright and so strong.
Visualize this cocoon of protective light around you as you go about your day today.
As you transition out of this meditation,
