As you enjoy this meditation,

You will feel very relaxed,

Enjoying a deep and long night sleep.

Feel really comfortable under your covers,

Resting your head on your pillow.

Make sure your position is very comfortable.

Your favorite sleeping position.

Notice how comfortable you already are because a long night's sleep is ahead.

Just follow along with my voice as I lead you through this very relaxing session.

Notice your breath,

How it is going in and out,

Just like waves crashing on the shore.

The waves come in and the waves sink back into the ocean.

You breathe in very deeply and you exhale slowly.

Feeling that fresh air come into the lungs.

Breathing out,

Relaxing even deeper.

And you can imagine that each time you breathe out,

You are releasing tension in the body and in the mind.

Breathe in that fresh air and breathe out,

Letting go.

You are already feeling a bit sleepier.

So take another deep breath,

Fresh air.

And as you slowly exhale,

Allow for any remaining tension to melt away.

Very good.

If your eyes are closed,

Open them for a moment.

Take one last look around you before your eyes close for the many hours of deep sleep ahead.

And I will count from 3 down to 1.

And with each number I say,

Simply blink your eyes.

3,

Close and then open your eyes.

2,

Blinking the eyes.

And 1.

This time let your eyes remain shut.

The darkness behind your eyelids is so soothing,

So relaxing.

It is a quiet place as you fall asleep naturally.

Notice how you feel.

Is your mind busy thinking thoughts?

Or are some emotions lingering from the day behind?

Is your body nice and relaxed?

To relax your body a little further,

Make your hands into a fist and squeeze for about 5 seconds and then let go of your fingers and let your hands remain still.

And now squeeze your feet,

Curling the toes,

Holding that tension and then let it go.

Relax your feet.

And I wonder which arm is more relaxed than the other?

Or perhaps both arms are relaxed simultaneously.

And I wonder which leg is more relaxed than the other?

Perhaps your legs are evenly relaxed.

Just notice your body,

The different sensations in the different areas.

Allow your mind to scan through the body,

Noticing the different temperatures in different places.

Some areas are cool,

Perhaps exposed to the air.

Some areas are warm,

Covered with clothing or your warm blanket.

You are calm.

You are very relaxed.

That nice long sleep is drawing in closer and closer.

Feeling now those warm areas of your body.

Warmth.

The warmth is so soothing and relaxing.

Now notice the heaviness of your body pressing down into the mattress.

Peacefulness.

Feel the weight of your body sinking down,

Being gradled by the surface below.

Now we are going to enter the realm of sleep through creative imagination.

Imagine now you are walking through deep snow and the deep snow is crunching under your feet softly.

It is pure white.

And you are making your way to a cozy log cabin.

The snow on the porch has been shoveled away and there is fresh chopped wood waiting to be brought inside to fuel the warm fire.

Stepping onto the porch now,

Reach for the handle to the cabin and open the door.

The fire is crackling.

It is cold outside but warm inside the cabin.

You see that the room is small and very cozy.

There is a bed,

A small kitchen,

A chair and the fire.

This cabin represents you.

It feels so safe in this cabin as if you have always known it existed.

You look around the cabin.

It is nicely decorated and small windows are lined with ice.

Make your way to this window and reach your hand up,

Taking your finger and feeling the coldness of the outdoors through the glass.

The sun is setting outside and the snow is turning a pale blue in the dusk.

You begin to hear the crackling of the fire and make your way towards the fire.

Feeling both hands in front,

Warming the cold finger that was just touching the window.

This fire represents your heart.

Always beating,

Always warm within you.

You hear the sound of a teapot going off.

It's on the burner and it's hot.

You make your way to the stove and remove the teapot and the whistle becomes silent.

You pour yourself a cup of lavender tea.

Lavender is a wonderful herb that helps you fall asleep and feel relaxed.

As the lavender steeps in the hot water,

It turns to a violet purple.

You raise the cup to your lips and inhale through the nose,

Smelling the scent of lavender.

Bringing the warm cup to your lips,

You take a sip and the sensations of sleepiness melt through your entire body.

Enjoying your cup of tea,

Your eyes are getting heavy and your body is tired,

Ready to rest and rejuvenate.

You finish your cup of tea and are ready for bed.

Make your way over to the cozy bed.

It has a quilted blanket that brings up wonderful memories.

Pulling the blanket back,

You find that the sheets are as white as the snow.

Getting into the bed now,

You rest your head on what seems to be the softest pillow you have ever felt.

So relaxed,

So sleepy.

You can hear the crackling of the fire,

Just as you can hear your heartbeat.

And you feel safe and cozy in your cabin.

No matter what the weather is outside,

It is peaceful and serene within the cabin that represents you.

Not only are your eyes closed in your physical body,

But your eyes have fallen shut within your imagination too.

So very relaxed,

So soothing.

It is time to fall asleep now.

So just allow it.

Allow for the rest that you deserve.

Sleep.

Sleeping comes naturally to you.

It is something you look forward to every single night.

Every morning that you wake up,

You are so rejuvenated,

Full of energy,

Because that's how good you sleep through the entire night.

And for any reason you wake up in the night,

You find that falling back to sleep is easy,

Effortless.

You simply imagine your cabin,

You are taken to the dream world,

Resting,

Sleeping.

Allow yourself to drift off now,

My voice fading away.

Good night.

This is one of my favorites. You sound like a Goddess in this recording. It’s so good. I like all the build up and how we’re paying attention to the body. I love the cabin though. I wish you could get yourself to the cabin and then do that stuff. I think it would be nice to be there first with all the warm fire imagery and warmth and comfort instead of at the end. Just my two cents. I think you can use this cabin imagery for such safety in a meditation and be able to go there for safety and relaxation - not even for sleep - like on a day when work is super hard I could go to the cabin on my lunch break and be guided to safety witting myself there but maybe not eased to sleep but instead inviters to come back whenever we need to be restored and send us back out into the world feeling loved, held, safe, and like we can get through whatever is going on in our own present realities at a given time. Keep creating. Keep expressing. It’s art ! I love it!
