This is an early morning walking meditation, set in crisp air, frosted fields, and a slowly brightening sky. You’ll be guided breath by breath to inhale inspiration and exhale love, letting the landscape steady your mind and soften your body. As you walk (or imagine walking), you’ll reflect on what kind of gentle magic you want to bring to today, whatever your circumstances. We close with a simple prayer to help you step into the day feeling clear, grounded, and quietly energised.

Good morning,

And welcome to this early morning walking meditation.

Perhaps you just fancied starting the day with some crisp,

Fresh air.

Perhaps like me,

You need to walk the dog.

And there's an urgency for getting outside and stretching your legs.

Perhaps you just want to stay inside and imagine that you're tramping across the early morning fields.

The night has left the grass squelchy and tender underfoot.

There are puddles from rain that's collected from last night's semi-storms,

But the storms have gone now,

And all is quiet,

If a little soggy.

The last of the autumn leaves are blanketed on the grass,

Not in the paths that are well trodden,

But under the trees,

Alongside those paths,

The leaves have collected and formed a thick blanket.

The sky is plum colour,

With a few of last night's stars still twinkling,

Still striving to be seen,

Before they disappear out of sight for a period of time,

And then reappear later on.

I would like you to take a really deep breath,

Feel that oxygenated fresh air hit the back of your lungs,

Your throat,

Your nostrils,

Take it deep,

Deep down into your belly.

Feel your belly inflate like a gentle balloon.

When I breathe in,

I like to imagine breathing in inspiration,

Inspirer,

As the French say,

To breathe in,

And then,

When you exhale,

Imagine exhaling love back into the universe.

The sky is getting lighter now,

The plum shades are receding,

There's a wistful greyness,

Waking itself up.

The bird chorus is gathering,

Gathering density,

Gathering,

Like a track's like,

As one bird sings into it as so does another,

In a different voice.

The profiles of the spindly trees,

Outlined with the lack of leaves against the grey sky,

Look like messy bedheads in the morning light,

As though they've tossed and turned all night on silken sheets,

And need to straighten themselves out for the day,

Before they're allowed to be seen by polite company.

You approach the brook,

The brook that's been babbling away all night,

But seems to have re-energised with the early morning light.

You pass the brook that is busy running,

Running,

Running,

Always,

Always moving forward,

Always looking to keep going,

Keep moving.

You pass the brook,

The noise of its fastidious movement recedes,

The ground becomes less squelchy or firm,

As you turn a corner and start to marvel at the sky as it brightens,

As it brightens fast now,

Speedily,

As the day comes,

Breathe in,

Breathe in the day,

What plans do you have for the day,

What magic are you going to conjure for the day today,

It might be gentle magic,

It might be peaceful magic,

Is it just keeping on going,

Getting through another day,

Maybe you're struggling at the moment,

Maybe things are great,

Whatever it is,

It's just for a day,

The stars will come out again,

Later on today,

The sun will set again,

Later on today,

The trees will go to bed again,

Later on today,

Just like we will,

It's all just for today,

Just for today,

What magic are you going to bring to this day,

Take a deep breath,

Inhale inspiration,

Inhale ideas,

Light,

Exhale love and creativity,

I'd like to invite yourself today to give yourself permission,

Permission to work whatever magic it is that you've got in your mind's eye,

Whatever small,

Large,

Whimsical,

Crazy magic ideas you might have,

Give them space,

Allow them time to percolate,

Possibly fertilise them,

But don't ignore them,

Let them be seen,

Let them be heard,

That's the way magic works through us,

Through ideas,

Through lightbulb moments,

Breathe in inspiration,

Exhale love and creativity,

There are bright orange streaks in the sky now,

The sun's really coming,

The sun is coming to say hello,

It's time to turn back,

It's time to walk towards your day,

It's time to bring your magic,

Inhale inspiration,

Inhale the divine,

Exhale love,

Exhale creativity,

Exhale your magic,

I'd like to bring this meditation to a close with a prayer that is dear to me,

Dear god,

Where will you have me go,

What will you have me do,

What will you have me say,

And to whom,

Amen,

And so it is,

Have a beautiful day.
