Welcome to the very first episode of The Frequency You Hold.
I'm so glad you're here.
Whether you found this by accident or someone sent it to you or you've been looking for something like this for a while now,
You're exactly where you're meant to be.
My name is Lisa.
I'm a neuro embodiment coach,
A somatic kundalini facilitator and a pranic healer.
And this podcast has been living in me for a long time now.
And today is finally the day for the first episode.
I had been waiting to find the perfect space for recording.
I've tested some places.
Turns out I just want to record from home.
That means you might hear the neighborhood sounds in the background.
That's just a little disclaimer for any dogs barking,
Scooter driving or roosters calling.
So let's start here.
What is this podcast actually about?
It's about the brave and honestly often isolating choice to step into the unfamiliar,
To walk a path that doesn't match the traditional script your family or society wrote for you.
And with that choice comes so much,
Doesn't it?
The doubt that creeps in,
Catching yourself looking for outside validation,
That strange in-between feeling not quite belonging to your old life anymore but not fully arrived in the new one either.
Maybe that's you.
Maybe you chose a different family model.
Maybe you left your home country like I did nine years ago.
Maybe you started over in a completely new career like I did.
Or you may hold different worldviews than the people around you.
If that's you,
You don't have to walk this path alone.
This podcast is about releasing that shame and guilt that can come with choosing differently.
It's about finding your own direction,
Adjusting your values and then actually living them.
Letting go of that feeling like you're not far enough along yet.
So many of us are used to putting pressure on ourselves to get it right.
And here's the part that really gets me.
Even on a path we chose,
Because we wanted more joy,
More ease,
More peace in our lives,
That same pressure can still be there.
Maybe this is familiar to you.
It's like a pendulum swinging between trying too hard to figure it all out and wanting to just drop it all.
On this different path that we've chosen,
We are asked to take full responsibility for ourselves.
And there might be resistance to that step.
At least a part of me had huge resistance to take responsibility.
A part of me wanted someone else to figure it all out for me.
A part of me found it unfair that life seemed to be so hard all the time.
What's required to be able to really take full responsibility.
Is to forgive our caretakers and ourselves for having to do this too early on in our lives.
That's the reality that many people in my community were facing in the early years,
Taking on responsibilities that weren't theirs to carry.
There's something else I want to name because it's really the heartbeat of this whole podcast.
Your nervous system is always speaking.
It just doesn't speak English or Spanish or German.
It speaks body language.
And long before you ever say a word,
Your energy field has already said something too.
That's your aura,
The quality that moves ahead of you into a space.
That hum underneath everything.
That's the frequency you hold.
This podcast is about learning what your particular frequency is made of in the nervous system and in the energy field and how to tend to it through the sweet moments of this life and the dark ones too.
So who am I and why am I the one sitting here talking to you about this?
On a personal level,
I am a cat mom to Chandler and Onik.
We adopted them four years ago.
I was born and grew up in Germany.
I have three older sisters.
I met my now husband when I was 13 years old.
For my astrology friends,
I'm a Pisces Sun,
Libra Moon.
And Cancer Rising,
And a 6-2 projector in Human Design.
I worked in accounting and financial planning for 10 years before my husband and I quit our jobs and left Germany to travel the world.
That is 9 years ago now.
We were about to build a house and start a family when I had the idea during our honeymoon to just make a cut and leave everything behind,
Which today I know wasn't the smartest move for my nervous system.
About that in a minute.
Professionally,
I'm trained in neuro-embodied soul centering through Britta Kempel,
In Kundalini Yoga through Guru Sings and Brett Larkin's lineage,
And in pranic healing and in somatic parts work.
Four different threads,
All of them bringing me back to the same place.
And this is the body.
This is felt safety,
The nervous system,
The truth that lives underneath the thing.
Thinking mind.
I grew up always trying to keep the peace,
Always feeling responsible for things that were never mine to carry.
I worked hard,
I achieved,
I did everything quote-unquote right,
And I still didn't feel safe inside myself.
This showed up as constantly feeling stressed and activated,
Hyperactive monkey mind,
Constant back pain,
Weak immune system,
Feeling wired and tired at the same time.
At 26,
I was diagnosed with depression and overwhelm.
And I did what a lot of us do,
Traditional talk therapy.
And in my experience from that therapy,
Understanding what happened to me and how that plays out in my life today was one thing,
A good thing.
But understanding alone didn't change anything.
And there was a moment when my therapist looked at me and said that I could keep going the way I was going and keep suffering,
Or I could change something.
And her words were a bit harsher,
More direct,
Not something a therapist should say,
I believe.
But yeah,
That was the moment I stepped out of victimhood and into self-responsibility.
Not long after,
We set out to build a completely different life.
We traveled for years around the world.
We landed eventually in Bali,
Where I still live now.
And here's what I want you to hear because it's the part people don't always say out loud.
The clean break didn't fix me.
Living abroad didn't fix me.
I thought a new location,
A new life,
A new career would be enough for me to just feel better.
But I was having the same struggles,
The same patterns,
The same anxiety,
The same restlessness,
The same hardship,
Just in a more beautiful setting.
It's only been through actually learning to feel safe and secure within myself,
Learning to hold myself,
Letting my nervous system experience safety,
That I have been able to meet life's challenges without that constant inner pressure.
That's when I actually started to enjoy the life I had always imagined for myself.
And we are hearing it all the time,
The nervous system needs to feel safe in order to be able to allow change.
But what does that mean?
How does that show up?
How does that feel?
Let's look at that.
When your nervous system feels safe,
It means something very physical,
Not just a mental idea of safety,
An actual felt sense in the body.
Your body has a built-in threat detection system.
It's called neuroception.
And when it senses safety,
It powers down its defense mechanisms.
Only then can your brain actually pivot out of survival mode.
Only then is there enough capacity available for you to heal,
To learn,
To actually implement a new habit or a new way of thinking.
The nervous system's main job is to secure our survival.
It does this autonomically,
Meaning automatically,
Without any involvement from our conscious mind.
The nervous system secures our survival in three major distinct ways.
Today I'll just mention them briefly.
They will come up a lot in this podcast.
The first is by governing unconscious bodily processes.
It is responsible for regulating our digestion,
Controlling our breathing,
Our heartbeat,
Our cell regeneration,
Our immune system,
All the processes in the body that run in the background without you having to think about them.
The second way is by activating what's known as survival mode,
What we all know as fight or flight behavior.
Survival mode is fantastic when it comes to avoiding a genuine danger,
But our nervous system can also misinterpret danger or perceive a danger that only exists in our head.
In those states,
Your brain redirects its resources away from healing,
Away from executive function,
And puts everything toward protection instead.
And the third way is through social contact,
Interaction,
Exchange,
And bonding.
From an evolutionary perspective,
Connection with other people is essential for survival.
Real change,
The kind that actually sticks,
Can only happen when your system is resting in what's called the ventral vagal state.
That's the zone of safety and social connection.
So how does that actually show up?
Your jaw softens,
Your voice gets a bit more warm and varied.
Eye contact happens on its own without effort.
Your shoulders drop,
Your breath gets fuller and easier,
And muscles that have been holding tension let go.
Your present.
You're present,
You're curious,
You're resilient.
You can sit with discomfort without needing to bolt or shut down.
Your digestion improves,
Your heart rate variability goes up,
Your immune system runs the way it's meant to.
But maybe more than anything,
How does safety actually feel?
It's not some big emotional high,
It's much quieter than that.
It feels like having range.
You can feel something hard,
Sadness,
Frustration,
And not be completely swallowed by it.
And on the other end,
There's room for joy too.
It feels like presence.
Being here now instead of some part of you always scanning for what's coming or replaying what already happened.
And it feels like ease of connection,
Feeling accessible to the people around you,
Being able to trust,
To ask for help,
To be vulnerable without feeling exposed.
Safety is a state we have to build.
It's not always our automatic setting,
Especially if it wasn't modeled for us early on.
So when I talk about supporting your nervous system in regulation,
This is what I mean.
Helping your system build enough capacity,
Enough trust that it can find its way back to the ventral state after a period of activation or shutdown.
Building the bridge back again and again until it becomes more familiar.
And even now,
It's not something I've arrived at or finished.
Just last year,
A wave of financial anxiety moved through me.
It felt like my whole world would collapse,
And my body responded with tightness,
Trouble breathing,
Acid reflux,
Low energy levels,
Weight gain.
Even after everything I've learned,
Everything I teach,
And honestly,
That made it worse,
Because underneath it,
Imposter syndrome was knocking and that only fed the stress and activation even more.
And what I've come to understand is that's not failure.
It's not that you haven't done enough or the wrong things.
It's not a sign you're not far enough along.
Life is a spiral.
The experience of life happens in spiral movements.
This is just the nature of all life.
And if you are revisiting some shadows,
Some struggles,
Some people would say that the universe is testing you,
I would rather say that it's an invitation for you to build even more capacity.
You can sense into that it's a different quality.
So this is the space we are opening here.
Not a place where I stand above you with answers,
But a place where the wisdom of the nervous system and the ancient depth of Kundalini energy meet for somatic safety,
Energy work,
And embodiment practices to support you in coming home to the deep self-trust that already lives within you.
Because it is already within you.
You don't have to earn it.
In the episodes ahead,
We'll go deep into all of this together.
The nervous system,
The energy field,
Ancestral healing,
The pendulum swing between doing and being,
The grief of leaving an old life behind,
And the slow,
Spiraling work of actually arriving in the new one and in the present moment.
For now,
I just want to say thank you for being here,
For choosing to listen to this episode for being on a path that maybe not everyone around you understands.
You don't have to walk it alone.
I'd love for you to stay with me.
Subscribe so you don't miss what's coming.
And if this landed somewhere in you today,
I'd be so grateful if you shared it with someone who might be interested.
Until next time,
Let's expand our capacity for life.
Together.
