Welcome,
My name is Lisa McCruin and today I'll guide you through a meditation to support you going into surgery feeling safe,
Calm,
And relaxed.
So let's begin.
As you lie here.
Preparing for surgery.
Begin to invite your body to simply rest.
Inviting your eyes to soften or close.
Whatever feels most comfortable to you right now.
And you can open or close your eyes anytime during this meditation.
Begin to notice the support beneath you.
The bed that's holding your body.
And allow gravity to hold you.
Inviting your muscles to relax.
Maybe there's a blanket resting gently against your skin.
Feel into that.
Receive that comfort.
Feel the air moving around you.
And then let's take a few breaths together.
So take a slow,
Easy breath in.
And then gently let it go.
Let's do that again.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
That's it.
Beautiful.
One more time.
Take a slow,
Easy breath in.
And then out.
And notice as you do that you are getting more calm and comfortable.
Going deeper into this experience.
And you're just allowing your body to receive oxygen and life force energy with every breath,
Every organic breath in and out.
And out.
And now bring your attention.
To the places where your body is already supported.
Maybe it's the back of your head.
Backs of your shoulders.
Your whole back.
Down the arms.
To the hands.
Your bum.
Your legs and the heels of your feet.
And as you do this,
Notice that you're relaxing more and more.
Now into the bed.
And you are beginning to just rest.
That's it.
You may notice some thoughts moving through your mind that is completely natural.
You don't need to stop your thoughts.
You might imagine them simply as just drifting by like clouds across a wide sky.
Try that out for a moment.
See your thoughts as just drifting by like clouds across a wide expansive sky.
And as you do that,
You return your attention to the gentle rhythm of your breath.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Thoughts are like clouds drifting by on a wide,
Open,
Expansive sky.
And your attention is just on your breath.
Feeling the rhythm of this breath in and out.
And as you do this,
You are deepening into immersing yourself in this experience of calm,
Of safety.
Of comfortable.
And as you rest here.
Imagine a warm light surrounding you.
A soft,
Comforting light.
It's not bright,
Not overwhelming,
It's just perfect.
Steady,
Warm,
Gentle and protective.
And this light surrounds your entire body.
And it begins to surround this room.
And it surrounds everyone who is caring for you today.
Feel yourself held within this field of care.
You are supported and cared for by many hands,
The surgeons,
The nurses,
The technicians.
The staff.
There are people here who have trained and prepared for moments like this.
They are people who are here to help.
So allow yourself to receive this support.
You've already done what you need to do.
Now your task is just simply to rest.
Feel yourself and all who will be caring for you today.
In this light.
Held in this field of care.
Now let's take another slow breath in together.
And then as you exhale.
Imagine releasing any tension you no longer need to hold on to.
Maybe that's from your forehead.
Or your jaw.
Take another slow breath in.
And then out,
Releasing.
Maybe it's in your shoulders,
Your hands,
Your belly.
Try this on your own for a few breaths,
Breathing in.
And then exhaling out any tension in the body that you no longer need to hold on to.
Softening.
Softening.
Letting go.
You might silently repeat these words.
I am here.
I am supported.
I am cared for.
I am safe.
Let's do that again.
I am here.
I am supported.
I am cared for.
And I am safe.
Allow these words to gently settle within you.
And as you do,
Notice how you are settling and feeling even more soothed.
And that there is a deeper place within you,
A quiet space,
A steady space.
A space that has carried you through a lot in life.
And perhaps now you can sense that place.
It's a calm center,
A still point.
And simply rest in its presence now.
Now notice how you're becoming more relaxed.
As you lay here.
Imagine breathing in trust.
Trust for the medical team.
And your body.
And then breathing out fear.
Breathing in trust.
Your medical team knows how to help you.
And your body knows how to heal.
Breathe out tension.
Breathe in trust.
Breathe out fear.
Intention.
And breathe in trust and support.
Receive this support.
Your body knows how to heal.
And your medical team knows how to help you.
Notice how good it feels to relax.
To trust,
And to feel supported.
Knowing that your medical team has got you and your body knows how to heal.
And as you do.
Notice how with each breath,
You're allowing yourself to settle a bit more deeply into the present moment.
Right here.
Right now.
This moment.
This breath.
And now if it's comfortable for you.
Bring one hand to your heart.
Simply just imagine warmth at the center of your chest.
And then silently repeat this after me.
May I be held in kindness.
May I be surrounded by care.
May I move through this experience with ease.
And may I be kind and gentle with my healing.
Take one more slow breath in.
And let it go.
Knowing that you are supported,
Knowing that you are cared for,
Knowing that you can rest now.
And when you are ready.
Simply just remain here.
Breathing gently.
Allowing yourself to be carried into the next part of your journey.
Resting trusting.
Receiving.
